Any decently-waxed car is going to give you a wet look. Hell, with ambition you could make use of a shitty can of Meg's cleaner wax!

I'm with Arctic on this one. Try it out and let us know. There are some detailing gems to be had once in a while at the local auto parts store.

Newness of the paint will have nothing to do with durability and beading properties of the wax. To play it safe, at least clay bar the area to be tested. Tape off half the hood and take some before pics in direct sunlight and shade. Then apply one coat, let it cure for a couple hours, or overnight, and take some after pics in the sun and shade. The next day, take it outside and hose the hood off and take pictures of the beading differences between the two sides of the hood.

Things I can tell from the pics...

1) Beading properties aren't that great. The smaller and more uniform the beads, the better (and by "better" I mean more "even" and "protective against contaminants") the protection.
*Note that this could very well change if the surface underneath was clayed and polished before-hand, and/or there was another layered application of the wax.
2) It has some cleaning properties which seem to remove some of the oxidation that had occurred on the hood.
*Note the difference between the right side of the hood (dull) and the left side (more shiny).

Solely based on these pics, it does not look like this wax is any better than another off the shelf wax. However, I did not perform this test myself so there are multiple variables that I cannot speak to from experience.
