Default more engine bay stuff.....relocated fuse boxes

got bored tongiht at decided id try to relocate my fuse boxes somehow. worked out erfect, now i just have to make a cover to hide the big mess of wires, which wont be too hard. i also removed the battery and will relocate it to the trunk tomorrow. so now nothin is going to be on either side of the radiator. should look pretty sweet once i get everything repainted. hopefully before f-body beachweek, im gonna weld al the holes shut, smooth everything out, and repaint the bay.

pull the fuse boxes up, and they rest in this tray.

the tray clips into this little bracket that is spot welded to the car, gotta drill it out..

stuffed the fuse boxes down into a pre-existing hole...they barely fit

heres how it looks like from underneath, i can still easily access and change the fuses if need be.

heres the template i made so i can get a cover cut to hide all the wires...

battery pulled, cover in place...

once i get everything fillled in a repainted, she should be a show stoppaaaa!

I like that idea a lot, I was going to relocate it and did not even think about hiding them in that hole where the AIR was. Good idea, post pics of the final product.

i considered doing that, but decided against it because of the wires.

How did you mount the fuse boxes or are they just hanging there?

i put mine down there as well. i made the hole larger in mine so it could still access them from the top.

the boxes arent mounted, theyre just hanging. when you see how stiff all this wiring is, youll see that leaveing them hanging is just fine, they arent going anywhere or moving much. the fuses are easy to acess....its in the same compartment you open up to change out your fog lights, and the boxes are facing down so its easy to get to the fuses.

what i didnt think about is water from when i wash my engine bay. usually this wiring doesnt get wet bc its protected by the topide of the fuse boxes. now that the boxes are upside down, water may get on the wiring....this gonna hurt anything? maybe LS2bait can chime in on this one, id appreciate it.

i wash my junk 3 times a week and have had that done for well over a yr and no issues yet. also been caught in some nasty rain storms with no issues. i made a bracket for mine though as i was scared of the wires coming loose.
