Whats so bad about the touchles car washes? I hand wash every week, but in between I might touch it up at a touchless wash.

well... touchless washers won't do ****. if you had water spots and dirt on your car before you took it in there, you definitely still will after. you can only get a car truly clean if you use a wash mitt and dry it properly and use good soap.

see with mine touchless washes shoot water into the bottom of the door and i have puddles when i open it in the plastic part. (not inside) but the only time i would ever go back into on is when i buy a new car to see if it leaks.

but still a waffle weave has lots of nap to it where a chamois doesn't. I stopped using chamois years ago, dunno to each their own

Also, when using the WW, you should blot dry, not wipe.
Well, good enough for me. Thanks for the info.

I had to use a touchless wash once and it cleaned the car but it left a bunch of dirt behind. I had to still wipe the car down after that. So yes they are a waste of money and time. And even the car was clean after i had wiped it down it drizzled and it left dirty water spots behind.

By hand washing the car and then it rain and then drying. It still was clean.

I'm a detailer and there is no safer way than the two bucket method, and good quality soap with a good mitt. And if the car is washed properly there is no risk of scratching your vehicle.

4 out of 5 times I hand wash. It depends on the weather and if I have time. I keep my car as clean as I can. My car stays waxed also so its easy.

I will always hand wash my Trans Am! With hand washing you can get all the dirt off, plus it looks much nicer when your done.

As for drying, i too have used the water blade and chamois. Now i do have some swirls that i would like to get ride of possibly caused by the chamois.. What is this waffle weave you are all talking about?

Hand wash, no question. You have to do it right though. As for the touchless, it doesn't work well if you let the car get dirty before you do it.

I like to handwash, but i will admit that i can get lazy every now and then and go through the touchless. Bleck cars are a bitch to keep clean, and if i want to keep the car clean, and keep my day job, then i have to compromise.

The Camaro has not seen a car wash since I got it. It gets washed every month in the ol' drive way.

As for the daily drivers.

I washed my work truck once in the last year, the rain cleans the rest.

The wife's Lexus either gets water-less washed at home or it goes to the run through crap wash when it is really dirty. I just can't keep it constantly clean, she drives it too much.

Wash by hand. Its fun washing your car in the sun and seeing the final result. On the other hand, when its 15F in the winter, i don't see how people hand wash their cars..its so cold!!

on the touchless car washes dont most of them reuse there water and run it through filters on site filter can only do so much if you are using dirty water to begin with so arent you pretty much sand blasting your car with one of those things, i might be wrong but i thought i have heard this somewhere
