9 times out of 10 I hand wash. Every now and then I'll run it though a touchless car wash. I don't see a problem with it. As long as I keep it waxed it usually comes out looking pretty good.

^ because if there is any dirt there's no where for it to go like with a waffle weave. The dirt stays on the surface of the chamois and will scratch the car as you wipe.

lol, wind?
I guess there would be no point to claybar then since there shouldn't be dirt or particles on the car after you wash right?
but still a waffle weave has lots of nap to it where a chamois doesn't. I stopped using chamois years ago, dunno to each their own

I swear on using the California Water blade before using a towel/chamois/waffle weave. Less wringing of the cloth, but you MUST be VERY careful not to have any dirt or dust on the blade. I wash it with the soap water before drying with it and I swipe my fingers along it every other stroke to make sure it hasn't pucked up anything the wind blew onto the car. For the inexperienced, don't use the Cali Water blade, but it does work. I just use a terry towel to soak up water around lenses, door handles, etc.

touchless for the 01 TA and the 68 Firebirdhands down. I haven't washed my beater once in the almost two years that I've had it and my truck won't fit in an automatic wash bay, but I usually run my company work truck through the automatic bay since I just put it on the company card and I don't care if it gets beat up
