I have heard you can powder coat pieces that flex....is that true? I am thinking of the the factory hose clamps. I would have them chrome plated (real chrome) but they would crack when you open them up to put them on the hose. Can they be powder coated and live??? I know they wouldnt be a good as real chrome, but would look 1000xs better than they do now. If they would live and one of you guy would be willing to do it for me....pm with what you would charge!

Heres what I do.
LT1 for an example
Started with this dirty pile

Now granted, this isn't the perfect treatment, as it just polishes up the outside, but defiantly is a cheap, and effective way to bring shine into your engine bay. It also cleans your TB like no other system.

IMO, DIY polishing of the stock TB is not worth the effort. Paint it; powdercoat it; buy a billet unit unit; etc. I speak from first hand experience. I put a ton of hours into prepping and polishing mine and I wish I had just painted it instead. There are just too many nooks and crannies. The MAF ends are a different story as the shape is easier to work with.
ETA
OTOH, if you are satisfied w/ a half-a** job, you could probably bang that out in a few hours. Achieving a chrome-like finish takes forever without the right tools.
P.S.
This is what a properly polished stock TB looks like.

I can't do it very well, no matter what i do my pictures dull out my work![Sad](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_sad.gif)
Z34 nut is having his put in a vibratory parts tumbler. most people use these to polish nuts and bolts without any effort. A tumbler is a unit that you can put various media into and dump parts in and then just turn it on and come back 24 hours late. its akin to media blasting for little parts. you can use different shapes and grits in succession to obtain a final finish you like. its easy but obviously takes a little while with the wait time, great tool if you aren't in a hurry..
