Cigarette lighter power wires goes into switch, powering cold cathode tubes.
Power wire goes behind carpet, through firewall hole behind gas and brake pedal.
Extra wire is tucked away on the side of the engine bay, out of site.
(Because I don't have wire loom yet
wire is run up drivers hood strut, attached with black tape so it matches the strut. The wire going up the strut isn't at all noticeable unless your looking AT the strut.
Then there's a few inches of wire from the strut into the rear of the ram air scoop.
I think I might leave it like this, because it is 100% away from the engine and any moving parts. The only bit of wire completely exposed is the few inches from the strut (the hiding spot
) to the ram air area. If you look at the car show pics (first two I posted) you can see the wire. No one mentioned it at the show though, so i think its alright. Also if I have a black wire loom running up a RED hood its gonna stand out like a sore thumb.
Also, there's a ground hookup on the drivers side shock-wheelbase area. I put the ground for the tubes onto that screw. The ground wire is run with the power wire to the back of the engine bay, then down the side, then breaks off to the ground point. Its barely noticeable, looks like it should be there.
.....went back and looked through my photos when I had gone to his house and here are a couple pics that show how he did the lights...sounds very similar to the OP's set up. I always thought the lights were cool when I first saw them on Rob's wife's car.

guess they aren't too weather resistant...
Also, my wires were completely hidden... I snaked the wiring through the inside of the hood. And when i say the inside of the hood, i mean i snaked the wires between the two layers of fiberglass...

took some time but welllllllll worth it, much cleaner...
