Default 1997 T/a

Im picking up my first 1997 TA Comp, and I want to kind of update the look a little bit. I have looked and looked but I cant seem to find any aftermarket front quarter panels. I'm not trying to rice my car out, just wanting to update her shape make her a little sleeker. I really like the 98+ Quarter Panels. Also, I was looking around at a few hoods. In your guys opinions which hood would look the sleekest and still be functional performance wise at the same time.

Roger that, I just did some reading and found out they are very rare. So I will leave her alone body wise. But as far as paint goes. Does anyone have any ideas. She's in need of paint really bad. Like I said, I am new to the TA's I am still learning.

Here is a picture of her, I should be picking her up sometime this week. You cant tell from the pictures but there is a crack in the rear bumper cover that needs fixed and she has a few deep scratches in the paint

how are you likeing the ls1 so far??

instead of getting a whole new paint job. to save money i would just get the areas that need it most repainted and blended by someone who knows what they are doing

and do the ceta mod - i looks great on silver

---------------
also what is a COMP T/A??? why are they rare? and did they come with ws6 style hoods?

^^Don't you mean LT1, call me crazy, but the LS1 was introduced in '98......he has a '97, which would make that an LT1.

Comp T/A's are rare cause they only made a hand full of them for something like a couple of years....if memory serves, it started with '95 and ended in '97. Pretty much it is a base T/A with Performance mods and specialty stuff straight from the factory! If I am wrong on this, somebody chime in and correct me....researched Comp T/As along time ago...

To the OP, are you doing a re-paint, or are you going for a different color....if so, Black, SOM, or NBM have always been my favs!

do not change the color of that car... i think they made less than 100 comp T/A's each year... that will be one of the collector cars down the road

I say leave it alone and I wouldn't swap the fenders even if they fit. I think the LT1's are sleeker just for the fact they don't have the vents on them.

Is it a true Comp TA? Those aren't the wheels it comes with so sourcing them will be a good idea and them repainted it if it needs it.

if it is a true comp ta those are definitley not the wheels for it, as far as repainting it, do that in the same original color code and restore this baby to stock appearance, but make sure whatever you do change or take off keep it so that it could always be changed in the future back to stock....good find enjoy her...look in the specialty vehicles section there are guys that have them in there...

Im pretty sure she is a true Comp, I'm going to pick her up sometime this week. Here is another picture, and a picture of the rear bumper cover I need to fix. The guy I'm buying it from sounds like a pretty cool guy.

On this last picture you can see were the decal is starting to peal off. Should I pick up another decal when I have the car repainted its original color, or should I have them paint the decal design on the car. So it will look the same, just a painted stripe instead of a decal

For originality, I would get a new decal.

The interior looks really clean. Has it been modded?

Thank you, but its already been established that I am going to leave the car the way it is. But it is getting a new paint job in the factory color.

Here are some replacement spoiler decals:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/OEM-S...spagenameZWD1V

and some of the door decals:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/SLP-O...spagenameZWD1V

They don't have any for the hood, so if you were to get the whole car repainted, then I would suggest that they leave the hood alone, and just blend the paint to it and buff it out real nice. That is if you can't find any other places that sell the stripes.

Nice find though man, always been a big fan of the Comp T/A's.

Actually, after seeing this in that photobucket account, I think it would be safe to say that no matter what you do that that car it won't hurt it's value. Being a collector car with a rebuilt/salvage title, it isn't worth more than any other regular Trans Am.

I hope the seller already told you about it.

He did tell me about it, funny thing is. I have seen the title and the title is clean. So who knows what that's all about. That's what him and I couldn't figure out. Why it has a salvage sticker but it has a clean title

I think it depends on a state basis and the insurance company. My wifes car was salvaged out and we got a check and kept the car, but the title is clean...even running the VIN it comes back clean, plus, they never put a sticker...anywhere on the car like on yours.

So I don't know....maybe just laziness on somebodies part(s)
