Default Whistler mod gone HORRIBLY wrong!!!

So today I wanted to get some blacking out done and I chose the whistler mod. I had some scratches so I decided to knock them out before I did it and heres what I started with...

And now...

Wet sanded using 1000 Grit (one thousand) and moved to 1500 after 10 minutes and then moved to 2000 after 5 minutes. Attempted to remove the scratches with scratch-x (or something like that, cheap and some on here recommended it) and then polished with Meguires. Can someone help me out here, I need this fixed very soon, the suns going down and my car is headlight-less.

Thanks.

Try using the powerball and meguires plastic polish. Thtas a fast fix without a buffer.

I used Meguires Medium Cut Compound when I did mine. However mine are not done just yet. I tried starting with just 800 (wet) and worked up to 2000 (wet) and they're still foggy. Not from the sanding, but just from the sun damage.

So I'd go out and get some medium to heavy cut rubbing compound and start rubbing.

Use 2000 grit and wet sand them for awhile, then polish with some rubbing compound. Those will clear up just fine.

How exactly is sanding the lens itself a "Whistler mod gone HORRIBLY wrong"?

That is kinda like planning on getting laid, but getting your pecker caught in your zipper in the bathroom while getting up the nerve to open the door and have your aunt see you naked for the first time. Then telling your friends that your first sexual experience went HORRIBLY wrong. When in actuality it never even happened to begin with...Or something like that.

Some people are so melodramatic...

Having a fucked up headlight isn't going to help me get laid, either.

And I did polish it with meguires... for like hours. I'll go buy a powerball tomorrow and try some more.

http://www.novuspolish.com/

I sanded mine down like that and used Novus. They looked like new for about 2 years and started getting hazy again, so I just bought chrome Halo's. You can use the Novus with the headlights still assembled, unless you actually sanded the inside of the light lol.

I think I'm going to order that, seal my lights, and redo this next weekend.

I did the same thing. Found this stuff at a local hardware store, can't remember the name, but I can look tomorrow if you are interested. It is sanding gel, says its equivalent to 10,000 grit and it comes with a foam pad to put in a drill. I was surprised how great of a job it did. I was about to break down and just buy a new set.

I use System One X3 polish, my parent's camry headlight looked BRAND new. Idk about novus, but i would highly, highly recommend the system one. I used it on my T/A tailights too, they look amazing now.

You've just gotta use some rubbing compound. Someone suggested the powerball on a drill, that'll make it a LOT easier that doing it by hand...IF you don't have a buffer. When I do headlights, after wetsanding up to 2000 grit I use a 3M grey pad on my buffer with Maquires Medium-Cut Cleaner, then finish with Machine Glaze. I won't use the buffer on lenses with the nipples, so I use my Dremel to grind them down flat before beginning work.
