Default 35th stripes on Sunoco hood?

I have always wanted to do this.....and I saw it turn up in another post today.

What do you think about doing gunmetal or black 35th stripes on a silver Z28 with the Sunoco hood (no body line)?

^^yeah, see the stripes go up onto the scoop and not around the edges like they should. And if you look at the end of the stripes near the windshield they abruptly end, and do not extend all the way across that part of the hood.... personally I do not like it, but to each his own.... just do what you feel like doing...

Because some people dont want to dish out the few extra cash for an L.E. with fancy stripes. Anyhow, the strips definately doesnt look right with the sunoco hood.

You should always do what you like, dont worry about what other people like. No matter what you do there will always be people that wont like it. As long as your happy with it thats all that matters.

Oh my god, they are just ******* stripes! I think they look ok, definitely would look better if they didn't go down the whole bumper.

I think it looks pretty good, i mean yeaa it ends to early & doesnt go with the lines of the hood but still looks good. Its a unique mod in way, with the Sunoco hood.

I was thinking of doing this but with the stripes modified to go right over the hood scoop..if you get what im saying. Decided to go with the SS hood now though, so that wont be happening.

HuH?????? Just the stripes? Last time I checked there is more to them then just stripes. Atleast there is to the one sitting in my driveway. Plus there where only 3,396 with that package.
LE stripes on a non LE are just dreamers. Ever time I see one I just wonder

^^dreamers! lol. I would have to disagree completely....I like the stripes, but I hate the checkers on them....I didn't get the stripes because I wanted an LE, i got them because I like the look...

and mine are better than LE stripes, they are painted, not cheap vinyl

thanks for the responses guys!

As for the bent out of shape 35th owners out there....1) my car is silver, so I'm not faking a LE car and its a Z28, so I'm not trying to clone a SS. 2) if its got the Sunoco hood, even my grandmother would know its not a LE car.

By your logic, everyone with two stripes down the center of their car is a "dreamer" and trying to make their car a Shelby. Not to mention all those "dreamers and posers" with their ZO6 and Vette wheels, I'm sure there are tons of C5 owners who are in tears because someone is trying to rip off the look of their car.

Isn't the saying, "imitation is the greatest form of flattery"? So GM gave the LE cars some nice appearance touches and you happened to fork up the dough to have those...great. Some of us happen to like to looks of it, and chose to take bits and pieces to make our cars different from the 100,000 other F-bodies out there. If it happens to make ours look slightly more like the 3396 of yours...tough.

You guys are missing what I am saying. Im not saying don't put stripes on. Im saying I think it is wrong to put the LE stripes on. I have seen many people trying to pass there cars for LE cars even if they were not red. I just think it is pointless. If you put stripes on your roof you are free game to be made fun of as a Shelby wannabe! BTW I believe there is a LE car out there with a Sunoco. I also have a Sunoco I almost put on my 35th but it went on my Z28 instead.
Does a Replica corvette wheel designed after the 35th LE wheel qualify for the same? I never thought of it that way.

Agreed, these 35th stripes look good. I will be getting these stripes for my car once i get my SS hood. Im doing it because i like the look of them, and there the only stripes i like at all.
