Default Weight reduction for a streetdriven car

Here is what I have ditched...

-full a/c including condensor
-full AIR system
-full egr system
-front swaybar
-stock front wheels (skinnies on the car)
-back seat, seatbelts
-jack, spare

But I have added weight...
-iron 6.0 block
-Moser 9" nodular center
-8 pt Alston chromoly cage

I was thinking of removing the heatshields, which ones should I keep?

This car will do 10,000 next year.

All pretty much straightforward.

The AC compressor is under the passenger side of the motor.

I'm going for the streetcar that doesn't get pulled over for loud exhaust. It's pretty loud now with the Mufflex.

I can't driving 700 miles sitting in a Kirkey race seat, is it me?

How about those heat shields, which ones should I keep?

Hey John.....why don't you buy a light-wieght k-member? That would be a good reduction.

Not sure if this has been mentioned, yet, but the soundproofing/carpet is very heavy. You can remove the soundproofing from the back of the carpet and re-install if you wish.
You mentioned removoving the EGR..including the air pump? Front and rear bumper braces and styrofoam padding? How far do you want to go and still drive on the street?
Good Luck,

Chuck

AC is 48 pounds total Terry
Other items:
EGR/AIR/CRUISE is 16 pounds
You should try my carpet idea I was talking about earlier that is 40 pounds at the track
ABS module if you dont have ABS functioning:not sure on the weight
Pass airbag: 15 pounds
front bumper support: 21 pounds
Kmember A-Arm combo: 44 pounds
manual madman rack: 25 pounds with power steering stuff removed
all heat sheilds and misc crap: about 5-10 pounds
rear bumper support: 19 pounds
foglights: 3 pounds
under dash panels: 4 pounds
That is 192 pounds not including the AC.
Plus there is other stuff I am forgetting I am sure I am contemplating doing some of those things
Cheers,
Chris

Or you could do like us cool guys, keep everything in the car so it's still comfortable, quiet, has a nice stereo and just build a stronger engine to make up the weight difference

Chris, you can get those times while being heavy Stock suspension and little weight reduction.

yes
I am trying to be conservative here hehehe!
Actually I have decided not to go with the K-Member A-arms route.
Just doing the lightweight hood (38), battery (20), carpet mod (40 at the track), EGR/AIR/CRUISE/foglights(19 pounds), pass and rear seat with belts (51 pounds) and some other minor stuff. That itself is worth 168 pounds. I can't afford to spend almost 700 bucks US for 44 pounds right now. What I mentioned above should make a noticeable difference especially where it is mostly off the front of the car.
Cheers,
Chris
