IF i had a Trans Am i would be VERY tempted to buy this, if you could make it with a place for a license plate.

^Maybe if you could mimic this design somehow, you would still be able to run exhaust out the back.

Large diffuser

Small diffuser

i made it grey so it would stand out compared to being black and blending in

I don't care for one to accommodate exhaust tips, I don't have any. If you can make one that I can retain my plate, like I said, I'll buy it ASAP.

^^^^That second pic might actually be worth photoshopping on a trans-am. Looks like the shape might fit around the tag and into the cut-outs for the tips...

So you guys want the thing UNDER the bumper like Chris, SIK02SS, photo shopped or blade coming off the BACK of the bumper (the part that a car would hit if you were rear ended)?

I had a little side project I was going to try to make before the economy tanked- a functional diffuser (or underwing) for 4th gen Camaro. I designed this unit with some very valuable help from a friend who understands airflow. Though its main function is to aid wake infill, at higher speeds it will create some rear downforce with very little induced drag. We thought this would be a cool weekend project with no real sales potential but there seems to be alot of interest here for a Camaro version so if you guys are serious please send me a pm. If there is enough interest I could have a prototype ready in a couple of weeks.

Some design features:
- Will fit most exhaust systems as long as there is at least a 33" space between the tips (pipes should be made single outlet and flush with trailing edge of diffuser though )
- Has about 704" sq. of effective pressure area
- Has 6 strakes (= 7 air channels)
- Needs an additional device to help airflow stay attached (laminar) which will be included with unit (this part is critical to functionality)
- Will NOT fit with CME or rear valance lip (but it would be optimal to get the exhaust gas coming out right above the unit, maybe through the bumper for you guys who are sick with a sawzall )
- Will NOT fit Firebird without hacking off some bumper trim
- Will try to make it fully bolt on but you may have to weld on a bracket
- Will probably be made of black HDPE and will not take paint too well, but durability should be fine for the street (will be looking at other materials as well)

If enough people pm me about this I am willing to put up the funding for a prototype but with that in mind remember the finished product will probably be around [EDIT: pm me for $] with the proto costing me much more, so that means like 50 interested people could get this started. Once it's made I can figure out pricing then go from there.

I am not intent on stealing 6LE customers - from the posts it looks like he is not too excited about a Camaro version and I have the design already in CAD ready to go... pm if interested or if you just have any questions.
I PM'd with a warning (so you don't get banned and in trouble like I did before I was a sponsor) and an offer to sell the product... Mods edit away.

On a side note... HDPE is a HORRIBLE CHOICE FOR THIS!!!!

It is great for front splitters due to flexibility and resiliance to rocks and what not but it is one of the most flammable materials out there. DO NOT USE HDPE (High Density Poly-Ethelen) ON A REAR DIFFUSER THAT IS NEAR HOT EXAUST!!!

I just pointed out that the second pic he PS'ed looks like it would be close to fitting into the cut-outs for the exhaust on a trans-am...

Sounds good. I know people would want to do something with their sail panels as many people have issues with bubbling and what not. I am starting to see some bubbles and would like a solution.

I don't know if anyone's mentioned it, so pardon me if it's been said, but how about an ashtray delete plate for the '97-02 center console that always breaks? Maybe some kind of flat plate that could even have a recess for an emblem or switch or w/e?
