Default Will a 315 Nitto fit on a Konig Monsoon 17x9 rim?

I know the 315 Nitto's are a tight squeeze on 17x9.5 rims. Is it possible to fit these on a 9 inch rim?? I am looking into these rims for their nice price, and I think they look good too. TIA

I have 17*9.5 Konig Monsoons with 275's...You would have to go with an 11" rim for 315's. Also they have to be offset, even if you could squeeze the 315 on a 9.5" rim it wouldn't fit on the car without an offset and traction would be worse than a 275...

9.5 is the minimum I would use with a 315.

I would not do a 9 with 315's.

BTW, the Konig Monsoon for our cars is a 9.5" wide wheel. A 315 fits fine and doesn't look funny. I definately would not use a 9" wide wheel with a 315.

Yeah, I have seen Dan;s car, it looks nice. No bulging or anything. Are WS6 wheels 17 x 9 or 17 x 9.5"? Thanks!

That's surprising to me that there would be no bulging. A 315 width = 315mm = 31.5 cm.

But 31.5 cm / 2.54 cm/in = 12.4 inches. I would think a 12.4 inch tread width on a 9-inch tire would show, and possibly not be safe. However, the bigger point is that a 315 tire on a 9 or 9.5 inch rim is going to have a bulge in the tread pattern that, while possibly not visible, is not going to allow for optimal tread to road contact. In other words, going to the wider width could *hurt* your traction.

Just my $0.02.

Thanks for the info guy's. I have been looking and every site says they're only 9 in wide, but 9.5 is even better. I have stuck a 315 on a 9.5 rim before, no problems and didn't look bad.

I have the Konig Monsoon 17x9.5 as well, and the 315 fits fine, no spacers or offset, and no rubbing. A 9.5" rim is the minimum size for a 315 tire. I have 275's on the front and they fit perfect. A 10 or 10.5" rim would be a better fit for the 315 though.

WeatherGuy and cantdrv65, I'm not trying to sell the fact that a 315 tire on a 9.5 wheel will have more contact than a 315 on a 11" wheel, obviously, it won't. I was merely stating that a 315 on a 9.5" wheel is perfectly fine. If you look at the specs on a 315 tire, it says a 9.5" wheel is the minimum size allowed. I have 10K on my rear tires now and still have even tread wear all the way across accept at the very outer edge's. It definately has more contact than a 275 tire, but a 315 weight's quite a bit more, not good if your drag racing. Because of the weight/price difference, if I had to do it over again, I would of probably just went with the 275.

We may agree more than you might think. I think the real questions here are why you would do this and what do you want? If the intent is for looks, that is one issue. However, the questionable tread contact area and increased weight (and price) indicate that this may not the best street setup.

For what it's worth, I have 315 Nitto DRs on 11-inch rims on the back of my car. It is a very good setup for the street, where running slicks is not pratical, a bit dangerous, and usually illegal. On the other hand, I would definitely want to go to something else for the dragstrip - too much weight and too little sidewall flex for really the best ETs.

Looks like we do agree <img src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" border="0" alt="[cheers]" />
A 315 on 9.5 is more for looks IMO too, but it does do a decent job of hooking up. If I were to Auto-X, I would of definately went a different route. Since I mostly go to the Drag Strip, I just use my stock 16x8 wheels and had ET Streets mounted to them, works great.

Exactly...Traction will suffer and it will not look as good as on a wider wheel.

17x9 + 315 looks weird. I don't like it.

17x9.5 + 315 looks significantly better.
