Default what does a slipping trans feel like?

I was just out and floored my a4 ls1 camaro for the first time. only mod is 3.50 gears. Well first of all I scared the **** outa myself cuz DAMN THIS BIATCH IS QUICK. I dd a 94 POS civic.

Second I don't remember that much it all happened so fast but I was doing 30 and rolled into the throttle and hit the floor and I wasn't sure if my tires were spinning or if my trans was slipping. The rpms shot up to 5000 or something and then the thing just took off. I felt it fishtail out at first also. My trans fluid is pink. Car has 18k on it. car drives fine at part throttle.

am I trippin or could my trans be slippin?
lol

thanks

If you were going under 30 im pretty sure your car just downshifted into first which would put you right in the powerband causing your car to fishtail. Doubt your tranny was slipping, its just raw power bro.

If your tranny was slipping then the car wouldnt have gone sideways. if your gonna launch it like that then give it part throttle and then WOT when the tires hook up that way u won't wrap ur car round a tree...it is fun though.

okay well I did the same thing again, punched it from a 25-30 mph roll and the car revved up to maybe 5000rpm without moving, then it finally took off. Im pretty sure it isn't normal but then again I can't tell if my tires are just spinning.

anyone else have any feedback?

Sounds like a 4500+ superstalled Torque converter LoL, if the tranny was slipping, the car would barely move or just not move at all if you were to floor the gas while it was in gear. If you want to know if the tranny is slipping for sure, strap it on a dyno, on dyno day's it's maybe $45 for 1-3 passes? If you don't see numbers over 280, start worrying about the tranny. BTW, if your on 245/16 tires and rims, your probably just spinning in place till it has enough speed to put down the power. Like stated above, ease in to the throttle.

Your car has to downshift before it can take off. If you go from 25-30 mph, your trans has to downshift from third gear to first gear before it can take off. This will cause an approximate one second delay while the trans downshifts before the car can take off.
