Default Everyones favorite question...

What speed stall would best suite a mainly street driven, cammed, LQ4. It will have about 400hp and tq at the wheels and Im will be trying to have alot of my power under the curve. I know alot of people will tell me to go big and dont look back, but I want the car to feel like a tq monster and not like its slipping. Let me know, Thanks guys.

I like a lower converter than most on here do I would go with 3500 but 3800-4000 is popular around here.

I will call them tomorrow but I was just seeing what people on here would go with. Why do you guys like such high stalls for the street?

I drive my Yank PT4000 stalled car on the street all of the time, and it really doesn't feel that bad. It is still basically stock motor also.

I wouldn't go with less than 3600.

Because it puts the LS1 in it's power band.....and fits our power curves

And the fact that it isn't the 80s anymore. Lockup converters really changed the game. In the past (where some people still live) 3000 stalls were for drag cars. Some what due to the fact that the power stopped at 5000 rpm, but also that the cars would get a good 5 mpg on the highway. Our awesome milage isn't effected at all on the highway regardless of stall speed.

What are your goals for the car when its all said and done?

You like a lower converter? Because you haven't a good one with a high stall?

my goals when I am all said and done with this particular build is to have 400-425hp and tq at the wheels with alot of snort under the curve. Almost every cam I
ve seen sacrifices some low end for top end and Im not a fan of it. Do you not want to match up your converter with the point that your engine makes the most tq?

update..I ended up going with a yank SS3600. My mods for to motor will be as follows: PRC Stage 2.5 5.3L Cylinder Heads and the torquer v3 cam with a LS6 intake (for now) and LT headers.

Mods aside, I am wondering as to whether or not I went with the right stall, I dont believe he has made it yet so I can still change the speed. REMEMBER this is for a mostly street application. Let me know, Thanks.

I think you should go for a SS4000. With heads and came I think you will get better performance out of it. It's a tight converter and doesn't feel as big as it is

The bigger the better and the SS series Yanks are supposed to have really good street manners
