Default 200Metric or 2004R

Which is the one that can be built to handle a limitless amount of power? I have a stick car and I plan on swapping to a auto when I get the turbo setup done, I was gonna go with a TH400 untill I got on Rossler's web site & I started reading about their "TH210". They claim that it can handle a unlimited amount of power, can I build one on a blue collar budget and have a stronger transmission than the TH400?

the rossler "TH210" is based off the th400 trans with all their billet components inside,, it is not based off the th200 or the 200-4r

I don't know much about the TH210 they speak of, I will say I don't believe theres anything that can handle unlimited power and never break. Even and anvil can be broken.
But to answer the title question . The 200 METRIC and the 2004R are basically the same trans the 200 was a 3 speed auto used for a few years "didn't have a very good rep at all" The 2004r was the same trans with the addition of and overdrive section making it a four speed auto. "Also at the time rep was not so good" Either trans can be built to handle some serious power of course with some serious bucks With custom drums etc.
The 4l60e can be built to handle some serious power also and you can retain tun ability, The 4L80E could certainly do the job also.
If your asking can you your self buy a and build 200 metric or a 2004r to handle unlimited power I would say no they are very specialized units just rebuilding one will not make it very strong.

Thanks, any idea why they call it the TH210 and not TH410?

Thanks, I was unsure about the whole thing becuse I knew some of the Buick GN guys built some TH200's. I guess if the TH200 was that good/strong and inexpensive to build everyone would be building them instead of the TH400's lol.

I have seen the internals of the Rossler 210 and they are a work of art. Carl custom makes a lot of parts, one of which is the 2.10 planets, hence the 210 name. First gear is 2.10 compared to stock of 2.48. Not sure if it is unbreakable, but never head of one breaking.

The TH210 is a TH400. The 210 is the first gear ratio of the trans. Most big power cars use this gear set. Guys who use this set make sick horse power and nothing you would normally see on the street. Were talking 1500hp+!

Thanks for the info, that makes sense. So it uses a higher ratio first gear? I've heard of guys using a 700 first gear in a 350 but its a lower raitio, I guess when your making 2000HP and leaving off a trans brake you probably want that higher raito.

you can take a 200r4 in the 8's in a full weight car without a problem.
I have a spare build by extreme automatics here with a stage right brake I will not be using $1,500 with a 5 disk 0 pump vig NOS converter built for the 9's Its a $3,500 setup this was ran out on a trans dyno and good to go.
I just don't need it now as I went to a full billet internal 200r4 that should be ready for the 8's (fingers crossed) Its all down to the motor being able to hold the boost

anyway I will sell $1,500 if yo pick it up $1,650 shipped anywhere in the us.

I plan on building a TH200 for my 93, but they are HP limited by their basic engineering. How much power do you plan on making any ways? Tom Kempf used to run that TH210 in his car, but switched to a glide. That's a car that's running mid to low 7s. I doubt you plan on building your car to go that quickly or you wouldn't be asking this question. You have a lot of options out there and could probably get away with a built 4L60e, have OD, and a middle weight transmission.

If your 200R4 is still for sale I'm interested. Can you post more details regarding the build? Does it come with any kind of warranty?
