Default SS3800, or PT4000? opinions needed

Well I was going to get a TCS converter, but now I think Ill explore other options. I was going to get a 4000, 2.5 str with the 98% but that wont be happening unless some major changes are made at TCS. So I am looking at a SS3800 or a PT4000. Or maybe something in the new Pro-Stock series Patrick G was talking about, Id like some more info on that BTW. I have driven a ST3500 with a 2.73 gear and the loosness didnt bother me at all. And a vig 3200, I liked it but want to go bigger with my car. So whats a good converter too look into? the SS or the PT? Im guessing that the SS3800 will have less traction issues on the street? so I may go that route.

The Yank Super Stock (3600-3800) or Pro Stock (4000-4200) converters will be much more streetable than the Pro Thruster (4000-4400). The Pro Thrusters are really, really loose. The new Yanks are not. The Pro Stocks will have the hardest launch, the Pro Thrusters will be the best from a roll. Pick your poison.

If a ST3500 & 2.73s was fine, a YTP 4200 or 4400 will be killer. It is a proven winner in the 1/4 and from a roll.

Loose yes, but it delivers.

im thinking bout the ss3600 for a daily/strippable 2.73 A4.

my first run out last night at commerce (not the best track) with my 00 z28 and a spare 17" rim with nitto in the back (didnt need the traction, the nitto's did fine) yielded a 13.797 1/4 mile time. If these nice converters can cut .8th off then it would be more than welcome.

Yank seems to be the only company claiming better drivability with with their super stock 3600/3800 line. I can always re-stall when i upgrade the engine more. Seems like best bang for buck, as it was lame, the stock stall jump dump you way too low in the power band. As the track got worse and worse the car consistently ran 13.9's all night long.

i have lid/catback/nitto. Doing a burnout was futile with the 2.73's and stock converter, it yielded no gain. pretty much hold at 1600, and hit it. would make a nice bracket racer at it is

I just swapped out my SS3600 for a PT4000, and so far I love it. I have not made it out to the track yet, cause I just finished it yesterday. I noticed an immediate difference, and the driveability did not change much.

does the vig converter use the 21 blade? I thought thats the main hoooplah about the super-stock, it gives more "2800 like" driveability, with a real 3600 or 3800 stall.

Or is that crap? Does the TCI SSF 3500 have this same technology?

If its only $300 more for a good bit tighter daily then by all means yank super stock seems worth it to me.

I dont quite understand where saving 300 bucks to sacrifice anything on nice cars like these would even be a question.

When will Yank be releasing info on the PS series? I have a SS3800 but want to upgrade to something bigger when my engine is built.

Go with the PT series. it is proven and the driveability is not that bad. I have the SS3800 and unless your spraying it is not good for 60' times.

My Pro Stock converter should be here in the next week,so i will post how the converter does. Remember you can't judge the PS on it's 60fts. if you know nothing about it. I was told that it will hit harder than the PT converter but will have the midrange and topend pull of the PT converter, best of both worlds.

Well if your burning down the track, then I too would be concerned about my 60ft times. Except, I am a daily driver with a rare (bloody) apperarance at the track. So I am strongly considering the SS3800 w/ 2.55 str for my:
02 SS A4 w/ 3:73gears
The Vig 2800-3000 2.5 str. is a great starter TC, I have never had any prob's with it.
Why is it so hard to contact Yank Converter by phone or email?
I have heard their customer services is lacking in this area.
