Default What to do with dead RockOn 4L60E?

I bought a 4L60E from RockOn a while back...just before he went missing. It worked pretty good for me while I had. It was his level 4 trans. It had maybe 5000miles on it when it lost all forward gears. What I was wondering: Is there anything I can salvage from this trans to possibly sell? I payed $2300+my working core for this trans. Here's the parts list:

* Parallel deck pump body and cover which eliminates hydraulic cross leaks
* Adjust pump rotor and slide clearance to .0015-.002 thousandths in a hand polished pocket.
* High rev pump slide spring
* Reinforced / staked pump bushing
* Port “ported slots” for increased hydraulic flow
* Heavy duty, hi rev. vane rings added for maximum pump output
* No stick, steel, oversize billet boost valve.
* Heavier boost valve spring/ shim added for maximum working line pressure
* Hardened, ported stator shaft with oversize bushings added. Stabilizes input shaft.
* Raybestos Hi-energy 2-4 band or Red Eagle Alto Band
* 7 Borg / Warner .065 hi energy frictions 3-4 clutch (4L65E)
* 29 element forward sprag borg warner
* 4L65E low roller clutch B/W
* H.D. Beast sun shell
* Rock drive hardened, balanced, sleeved input shaft & drum, with oversize coast clutch piston
* Borg Warner clutches thought
* New bushings, using wider where necessary for stability and balance, decreasing cross leaks/increasing durability
* New solenoids, altered stock gm
* Tested, soldered wiring harness
* Transgo HD-2 performance shift kit with 3 washers
* Transgo vacuum mod kit
* Corvette servo
* All accumulator pistons replaced and upgraded with aluminum pistons
* Correct end play for performance
* Enhanced PWM system to eliminate lock-up drag
* Increase Lube capacity
* Hardened galvanized control plate to handle the increased pressure requirements of a performance build.

I would think that it would be worth a little more than your average junkyard core. What should or could I do with it? I don't need it, but I'd like to see if I could get some of my money back from it...even if it's only a few bucks.

Theres only so much you can sell a non working trans for.
Those upgrade parts are cheaper than you think, so selling them used is time wasted.
A non working trans is a non working trans IMO, no matter if it came from a junkyard or, your word, a performance shop. They both need work, work that costs money.

Big risk for the buyer. You might get $500 for it.
Honestly I could buy a core and put most of those upgrades in it for approx $800 total. And I know it'll work.
Now factor in a person who can't do their own work, and has to pay for labor too.

I wasn't looking to sell those parts at a crazy cost. More like $200 for the whole trans. Is that asking too much?

Actually at least locally 200 is a reasonable core price if its and LSX based unit with or without any performance parts

With all the performance parts you have in it, Why don't you have it freshened up and if your wanting to go bigger you will be able to get a good chunk of money out of your level-4.

I considered getting it rebuilt, but I don't have the money for it. The last time I checked it was around $700-1000(just labor) to build one of these and need atleast $200 more in parts only. Even if I did get it rebuilt, nobody trusts RockOn's work or my local "unknown" builder, so I think I'd have a hard time selling it. I'd really like to just sell it as a core if it's possible.

I was being optimistic saying $500.
You should be able to sell it for $200 easy. Especially if you can prove it has all the said parts in it.
I'd say 2/3 of that list are $10 or under mods and some free.
Example, it says transgo HD2 shift kit AND it lists parts in the kit.
Typical sales tactic to make the list of mods look longer and more impressive to non trans builders.

My buddy advised me to buy a rebuild kit and build my first trans...with some help of course. I'll look into what tools I'll need and consider it.

Just take it apart first, no special tools needed yet.
See if it's real bad and go from there.
