Default Washers on ARP flexplate bolts?

I am putting the sfi flexplate from ls1 speed and the shoulder on the arp bolts stick through very little. I have read before that the bolts do not work with the factory flexplate, but I figured that the sfi one would work. My question is can I put a small washer between the flexplate and the bolt head to adjust the length accordingly!

Are you trying to reduce the flex plate to torque converter clearance? Is it over .125"? Or am I missing something here?

No, just as the th350/400 faq shows the shoulder of the arp bolt sticks through the factory flexplate a little to far causing the shoulder of the bolt to bottom out on the crankshaft before actually tightening the flexplate completely up. I was considering putting a washer on the arp bolt and then putting it through the flexplate to physically make the bolt shorter so the previously mentioned doesn't happen to me. I talked to my brother and he is just gonna put the bolts in the lathe and cut the shoulder of the bolt back some!

Here is the pic out of the FAQ page
