Default Broke 4L60E HELP!!!!!

Ok so i have a 01 ws6 118k and i had a traction issue so i put some Drag Radials on it and it hooked really good until i lost 2nd my question is im looking at doing a rebuild, i got a guy that works at a local GM dealer said he would to a complete rebuild for 500.00 but it will be stock, do i need a built tranny? i'm never gonna do anything wild with the car im just gonna do LT's with true duals and maybe a small stall what should i go with ? It ran 8.4's consistently with crap 60ft times so i was just looking for some incite on this subject

I wouldn't rebuild it stock, it will just break again. At least upgrade the weak links.

definitely, just save up and get a quality built tranny from our sponsors. thats a waste of $500 bucks to rebuild a stock tranny.

Minimum is right, listen to this guy and also add billet servo, wide racing band, new rev. drum......better yet, just let them or someone who know how to make them live do it.

I hope I get a season or two more out of mine with the new stall. If it blows though I will be upgrading to a built 4l60e

pay the 500 and take a chance or pay double for piece of mind. hard decision. i mean the first did last over 100k. my cash flow would prolly dictate my decision.

Is $500 labor or does that include parts? Sounds to cheap if it is $500 total. I would look into ordering a unit from one of us here. Obviously FLT would be my first choice!

I build my own race units, I buy wholesale, and the parts ticket (minus convertor) runs 600-700 depending on condition of drum and year of unit (older needs more update). U would spend at least 100.00 on a "banner" kit for basic 300hp re-build.
I tell people all the time, "I will put it together for 500, how much the parts bill is depends on if u want it to last and hold the power". I was impressed when I learned FLT has a "freshen-up" program. I do this for all of my people but it is generally unheard of in this industry. If I were u, I would consider 1 of their units for this reason alone. If they do everything they claim, u will be fine
