It will cool better if you run it through the end tank first and then into the aux cooler. Some coolers (very few) will restrictive the oil flow too much and if you combine that with the end tank cooler you could reduce the flow back to the transmission. Which consequently can cause the internal hard parts to fail (lack of lube). Air to oil coolers are not very effective if you are in slow driving conditions,city driving low air. Infreezing temperatures the end tank cooler will help warm the transmission oil so that it can function. which does not pertain to you since you are in LA. Probably more info then some want to here.
