Default after 2 years i broke it

any idea what broke?

ive got a ls1 60-e built...i launched on motor on the 1-2 shift there was a loud bang and i knew it was bad...no fluid spilt or anything but now i have no foroward gears...reverse binds when you put it in it...its like im on a trans brake...1st did work later when it cooled off but wouldent take much of a load other then idle...
it squeeks/clunks from the tranny...converter still spins, speedo doesnt work...

Sounds like a you may have rolled the fwd sprag. Time for a rebuild.

I would guess the low roller or rear planet is broken though it possibly could be the forward sprag also.
At any rate looking like it time for a trans or rebuild

what all parts will that take out? trying to get a money figure...i mean i was fopr sure this thing would burn up a 2-4 band or 3-4 clutch pack first...are those common to break?

They are one of the more common failures how much damage was done is hard to say without having it apart.
Was the unit built by a sponsors here I know several of us have some good deals on fixing units that break out of warranty?

its a non sponsor..cpt...i know performabuilt knows them...
this tranny has ben 9.90's (6.30 at 110) for over 2 years...with prolly 15k street miles, over 200 strip passes and probably 400 street passes...so i have no bad feelings about my builder at all...no clutch pack problems no band problems...anything

if i had a th350 or th400 id be happy to make it this long on a tranny...i called him today and he said he would fix it for parts alone...just having shipping problems now

thanks for the input guys...i pulled the pan and it has small chunks of metal in the front drivers side of the pan...looks to be near the return line...

It's just wear and tear man looks like it's time for a rebuild or step it up to a 4L80E but that's just me goodluck!

well i found out what broke and maybe yall can tell me why...the output shaft broke about 4 inches before the speedo gear???

i couldent get the driveshaft outa the car and wondered why...had to move the rear end back with the lca;s to get it out...

That is not an uncommon failure especially if you run tires with a good grip. It is unusual that you still had some binding in reverse, typically you loose all functionality.

actually the car still drove when cold...i can see the end of the optput shaft were it was rubbing to move the car

any stronger option for the output? and whats the diff between a 60 and 65 one?

I have had both the stock 60 and the hardened 70 one, neither one held up. Put a billet one in there.
