Default Buying a TH400 for buildup - how old? does it matter?

I am looking to buy a TH400 to have built for my T56->TH400 swap coming up. My first question is... does it matter how old of a tranny I buy? I have found used TH400's anywhere from 1967 to 1982. What do I want to look for ideally
?

Second question; yes it is going to rebuilt... but do miles on the used tranny matter that much? I found a 1979 TH400 with 70k miles and then a 1969 TH400 with 165k miles. Would either be a good choice, or do I always want the newest and lowest mileage?

Thanks guys in advance. Your advice will be super helpful.

Obviously the newer one would have less wear on the hard parts, especially the gearsets. But it all depends on how much you want to put into it. You can replace all the internals if you want a good quality build. They are all basically the same except for some minor changes internally. Some were light duty (so to speak). Others, such as trucks, had spur cut gears and 34 element sprags already. Again all parts that can be updated fairly easily. All it takes is money.
