Default Converter help, mid 10 sec all motor LT1

I have a TCS in the car now, just like this one....

This is a streetcar, gets driven a good bit. The car runs pretty good to be on pumpgas and has a CPT 4L60E.

Best 60ft is a 1.43, this is in mineshaft air, usually high 1.40's. The car needs an anti roll bar really BAD, it is getting one soon.

Now to the converter, the TCS has done me well. I am at a crossroads of sorts. The TCS converter has a lockup, will stall to 3000 rpm on the footbrake(barely) and flash to around 3700. The converter is HEAVY, 43 lbs of heavy! Its hard to hold the car at 3000 rpm with the brakes.

The TCS is very efficient, or was before I re stalled it the first time, 441rwhp unlocked and 463 locked.

The harder you stall this car against the foot brake the harder it leaves. Is this an indication of needing more converter? You try to flash it and it leaves soft.

In my mind it needs a 4200-4500 converter to really take advantage of what I have.

SO, do I send it back to TCS and re stall it again? Or get a lighter higher stall converter?

Thoughts?

What rpm is peak torque on your car? I would go with a billet converter and the stall is going to depend on your setup.

My torque peak is flat between 4500 and 5000 rpm. Peak tq is 436.

BTW, you ever figure out your trans problem?

Weight of the converter will hinder performance.A 9.5" billet lock up converter will perform great. You need a higher stall than 3700.Also with the large tire we can make it hit pretty hard.Give me a call and we can discuss your setup or go to our website and fill out a pec sheet and we can make a recomendation.

Since you probably don't have enough opinions and suggestions already, I will chime in with even more.

Circle D 5C - Rated 4200-4400. It will hit hard, very hard. Example would be TXCAMSS 408 CI getting a 1.29. He had a little more power than you, but it still gets the point across. TCS builds a nice converter, I even buy some parts from Rusty. I just don't like how heavy that converter is. Changing to the smaller billet style converter is like removing 10LBS from your crank. I don't know how much HP that frees up(maybe somebody knows how to figure that out), but you will feel the difference in how the motor revs.

Having said all that, the TCS unit does have an enormous single disk billet piston. That is one of the few single disks the can do a WOT lock up. But since you are NA, you are probably only using the clutch for cruising.

Please call or PM if you have any more questions or want to throw some other ideas at me.

I do not lock the converter at the track, BUT I do need a good lockup as I cruise this car a good bit.

Thanks guys I will be calling in the next few days.
