A little over a year ago I went from my Mike Kurtz (PMAC, Houston) 2800 stall to a TCI SSF3500. I was expecting a nice ET drop too... but NOT.
Mine seems a lot tighter than it should be. It does not holeshot quite as hard as I think it should and lets my revs drop too much on gear shifts.
I was rebuilding my motor at the same time, so it's hard to say what I can contribute to the converter and what I shouldn't. However, my 60' picked up a lousy tenth over the 12" PMAC 'verter and it should have done that with the new motor's bigger torque anyway.
I guess on the "plus" side it has good street manners (like a ghey tight converter should
) .Don't get me wrong, the converter seems to be a quality piece, just tighter than I thought it would or should be.
Get that sucker in there! Heat is the biggest enemy of an auto trans, and you are generating a lot more of it than with the stock converter.
