I have to tip my hat again to the fella's over at FLT. They took damn good care of me once again. I had them rebuild the Level 4 in my 98 that I bought last year. The first go around was great and the trans felt damn solid, but man this new one is awesome, the 2-3 feels soo much better than before. I can't remember exactly what Andy said they are doing to them now (something about holding 3rd better, yadda, yadda) Can't wait to actually get on it again.
Also gotta shout out to Dave at Yank. Had him go through my SS3600 and restall it to a 4000. HOLY HELL. I should have bought a 4000 from the get go. This is exactly what my combo needed. It feels so much faster than before. Does take more to get rolling and when going up a grade, but its PLENTY liveable. This thing is a lot more in line with what I was after. I'm very anxious to get back to the track and see what kind of improvements are to be had.

Thanks Twotonefreak. We have made some changes in the last year to make these transmissions stronger and hopefully last longer as well. In our level 4 and 5 transmissions we have a new billet piston that we are installing in the input drum. This allows us to install a billet over run piston along with steel forward piston. This modification allows units with sleeved drums to keep pistons from breaking and also seals that might blow out and fail. We have not seen a lot of failures with our old methods but we feel this will eliminate the possibility of this failure in the future. Also in our level 5 units and in select level 4 units, we are using a new updated valve for the valve body. This modification to the valve body will allow the over run clutch to be applied in the D3 position in 1st, 2nd and 3rd gears. This will keep the over run clutch applied to aid in the holding power of the input sprag in these transmissions. We have been testing this out in a 800+rwhp C5 vet for the last 2-3 seasons with a prototype valve. The results were awesome! I do recommend racing in the D3 position and with this valve the trans will be stronger. Thank you for the continued support of FLT. We appreciate it. Vince

Appreciate you chiming in Vince. Once Andy told me about the upgrade, I was all for it!
I forgot to ask earlier, is that mod why the 2-3 feels so much firmer than before? Nothing has changed in my tune since the last trans.

so im about to purchase either a level 3 or 4 4l60 or 4l65 from FLT. but why would you have to rebuild a level 4 after only one year? this worrys me as i DD my camaro (soon to put down 450-500rwhp) and im not nice to it either.

You won't have to rebuild once a year....the guys doing that are the 8 and 9-second racecars. They don't have to rebuild, and they don't rebuild because they're broken, just routine maintenance. Factor in FLT's awesome refresh special, and it makes sense for those guys. I've had mine for one and half years now, and it hasn't missed a beat. You'll be fine!

Once again, ditto to what 99 said. He and I bought ours within a week or two of each other. Mine had been perfect until my mishap. I can't stress enough how confident I am in their product. Cause believe me, if it had went south from faulty workmanship or products, you'd have known about it. The guys up there are great to work with. I have all the faith in the world in their transmissions.
i am contemplating put a t-brake in mine with a pt4400 & the new fab 9 with 390 gears ??????
ok ok, you guys sold me already. i will be making my purchase pretty soon. just gotta get the engine parts ordered first and talk to mechanic about install dates. thanks everyone for the reassurance.
Last year, I ordered / installed an FLT tranny and Yank (3200) in
the 95 Convertible and have been extremely satisfied with both.
I just added a pristine red 95 (T-top) 6-speed to my stable, so I'll be
taking that other path ...
Yes when driving in the D3 position you will feel a firmer shift because the over run clutch is applied in 1st, 2nd and 3rd gears with the new mod. Thanks everyone for chiming in on this thread we appreciate it. Vince
