What stall and what company?
Got a 04 GTO that is an A4. Pretty soon I will be doing a cam swap in it, and I am curious if some guys have a preference on a stall. I wil be installing a TR224 cam. I will ride without a stall in the beginning, but I will get on down the line. What size stall shoud I use, and who should I purchase on from? Please keep in mind that this car is my daily driver that I will never take to the drag strip.
The 3200 is a great converter for street use. It should compliment the 224 cam well. You could step up to a 3600 for better performance, but then it starts getting looser for street driving. Since you never go to the track, the 3200 should be perfect. Our Stage I billet converter is the converter I would suggest in a 2C stall rating - 3200.

I have a 3200 Circle D I think it would be a very nice piece for your combination, awesome street manners but comes alive when you stomp on it. I couldn't be more pleased plus it has a very solid lock up clutch that makes cruising on the highway better than a stock convrter.

Do I desperately need to get a torque converter immediately, or can I ride on the tr224 cam for a while before I get one? I just want to make sure that I will not be creating any problems for myself by riding on a stock converter after my cam swap.
I am quite sure now what size stall I will go with now and what company I will purchase it from. I just want to know if I will be okay riding on my stock torque converter after I do my camshaft swap. Will I break anything by doing this?

Circle D hands down. One of the baddest doughnuts made. High carbon lockup clutch, billet piston, hand tig'd like pure butter...etc... Customer service and support is second to none. I am not aware of any bad reviews anywhere.

Your stock converter will be just fine until you have the cash. You dont need to worry about scattering it with no track use and a small cam. Although, to get the most out of your cam you will need to step up to a stall converter. The converter helps put the car up into the working powerband of the cam since your moving the torque curve around by getting rid of the "nice & comfy" low duration stock cam.

Greg has my PIG/GTO going 9.0s with his converter and with a few more issues resolved we should see mid 8s!

I had a Vig 3200 in my TA. I'm pretty conservative, I would rather sacrifice some performance for drivability, but I was wishing I had gone with a 3600. Which is what I have in the box in my garage waiting to go in my daily driver GTO next week.
Well id like some tips on this as well i have a 6.0 liter out of a 2004 caddy and drive my 2000 ta 120 miles a day any suggestions im going to be spraying and installing stage three patriot heads my cam is the 220s and 560s any help would be great cuz 12.7's just arent going to work for me guys
