building a powerglide
building a powerglide I have a denenbear case and roller tail housing. Im planning of going wigh a 10 clutch drum. IM planning on pushing like 1200 or 1300 hp threw it. What is the horsepower rating before you have to go to straight cut plants? I know some guys who made that much horses and went with the regular plants, thats why i ask. thanks. Also where would be a good place to purchase my trans parts at a good deal.

What ratio most run 1.80 straight cuts. Also they are lots of people that can get you parts. TCI, PTC,BTE, If i was you try to get a drum loaded . Also a stock stater suport will not last. A pinned or welded one is cheaper but the new TCI is bad ***. The only draw back is you have to run there input shaft. Just for what it is worth with a 91 mm you need the straight cut gears and the pump if you can afford it. Call PTC and ask for lane he can help you and they are cheaper than most. Also what convertor are you running?
i went 8.20 in a 3300lb 10.5 car with a glide with a 8 clutch drum and a stock 1.76 gearset,never has any issues.At 1200hp you really dont need to go overboard with a glide.
well thanks guys for the input. i will look into the options. i am planninh to get a better input shaft,pump, clutch drum but i was just wandering about the straight cuts if needed.

A buddy of mine runs 8.0s with a stock set of 1.76 but we laugh and say wander if it is going to come apart this pass. The stock cover will start geting destorted and it will bitch to get apart after one are two rebuilds. If he has a pt 91.5 turbo he will be above 1200 even on a conservative tunup. If you are going to build do it once and forget it. I dont know but i would hate for a gearset to come apart on a 8.0 at 150 plus pass.
