Default High flow tcc?

Is there a TCC solenoid that is considered high flow? Or can one be modified? 700r4 btw
I had a thread a while back about my converter locking in 2nd when the fluid was cold. I have traced it to the TCC solenoid not exhausting fluid fast enough. I figure if a "high flow" one combined with Dexron 6 fluid (supposedly more stable in cold conditions) should solve my problem. Although summer is just around the corner and have not experienced this problem as much.

I am not aware of a high flow tcc solenoid. And I have never looked to try and modify one. But on the other hand there should not be that much fluid there,
I would look and see if possibly one of the TCC control valve springs is broken in the pump I have seen this a few times and checking it does not require removal of the trans.

What about removing the check-ball in the input drum?? That would help with the exhaust possibly.

We do that on all our units but actually thats a different circut from what strokes the TCC valve .

I've pulled the TCC valvetrain and everything looks good and is oriented correctly. I left out the solenoid to rule that out and it didn't lock in 2nd.

Circle D- Are you talking about the checkball at the end of the input shaft?

Yes I think that is what he is talking about,
I would say a hole in the plate is to large. or by some other means the TCC solenoid crossleak or other is being fed at a greater rate than it can exhaust, Having the capsul in plave or note would not change that, It only affects the rate of apply on the converter clutch once the TCC valve is stroked and supplies fluid.
One question though have you just tried changing the TCC solenoid to a new one?

A lot of the early solenoids in the 700R4 and 2004R transmissions would give you that problem . Usually you can replace them with a new one ,either a TECH-PAC or just a new gm spliced into the harness and have no more trouble . It always seemed to me that the ball in the solenoid was made of a soft material and would get a rough , raised surface that seemed to make it larger causing it to reduce flow .

I was told it was new, but no I haven't actually bought one myself. Once it's warm the solenoid works fine engaging and disengaging lockup.
