Default EDGE v.s YANK conv.

GUYS! im steady debating on either; edge or a yank conv. tO JUSTIFY weather a Yank/or EDGE will do the trick as far as frwy speeds having a comfortable experience with. Just overall a satisfying brand to go foward with.

fellas, tell me your experiences , and how well it works with your 60E's out there thanks!

p.s
Placing a 9" torque conv. makes your overall BHP drop about 15 horse to the wheels????

What size are you looking for? Are you going to spray?

Nice numbers by the way.

i have a 3200 edge w cam and bolt ons and it hits hard off the line and from a roll. some people say andre at edge doesn't really like to go too high on stall speeds, he actually was pushing me towards the 3000. so far the 3200 has performed flawlessly and does what its supposed to. i considered going with a yank 4000 next time around just to give me a better advantage against some of the local cars bc im not planning on doing a whole lot of other HP mods( like heads, spray, turbo etc). also, my trans has lived happily behind this converter for a year and that may be one reason why andre doesn't push for the bigger converters for street cars. either way the customer service at edge is top notch and andre is a great guy to deal with. i know that dave at yank has a great rep also and i believe they make an awesome product. the edge converters are slightly cheaper and that factored into my decision as well.

last time at the track i cut a 1.69, 1.70, 1.72 60 ft. on Nittos, and i believe the converter had more in it. i think i can cut a low 1.6x or possibly a high 1.5x with it with better tires.

I had a yank ss4000 and with just bolt ons went 1.61 60'. Streetability was good, and never had any mechanical issues with it.

I never ran an Edge but have heard good things, also noticed he doesn't seem to like high stalls but anyways seems like a good manufacturer.

I personally run Yank's and Yank has been very good to me. There customer service is great, they are nice people, and there products speak for themselves. I previously had their SS3600 and that thing was an animal. Super efficient and tight on the street and cut late 1.6x's at the track full weight with at the time 330rwhp. I have not one bad thing to say about that stall. Recently my tranny went (3-4 clutches) so I had it built by CPT and I sent the stall back to Yank to be restalled to the PT4000. Haven't gotten the tranny into the car yet but I am extrememly excited to see how it is. Based off of Yank's superior reputation and results I would go with them.

I do know that we have many happy Yank/FLT customers out there. Some weeks our shop looks like a warehouse for Yank! I think that says something. Good luck in which ever direction you decide to go. Vince

I would of course throw Circle D into the mix, but if I had to choose between the two it would be a Yank. The main reason is the Yanks have a billet front, I think that is a very important upgrade to high performance converters from a durability stand point. I am not 100% sure about this, but I believe Edge just uses a modified factory front. The second reason is because they are a sponsor on Tech.

If you would open up your short list just a bit, I would be glad to help you pick a Circle D converter.

Good luck with your decision.

Chris

FWIW I have run 3 Yanks in my car and liked them all. With that said I currently run a Circle D and it has provided me with the best performance to date.

actually i believe thats correct and incorrect. the entry level edge does have a modified front and the price reflects it. i believe he offers an upgrade that may have the billet front and the price reflects that. i believe the upgraded model is on par with yanks converters and the entry i know is cheaper.

I don't know about u 01ss but andre also gave me a money back guaranty. Even 3 years down the line if something is wrong with the converter he wants to know about it. We also run a edge converter in our 88 mustang 347 best of 9.47 (150 hp pills) that 4 years with the same converter we are sending it back this season going for the 8's and getting it re-stalled at 5500.

How about them FTI guys. LOL Whoever you go with I would definately want a billet cover and lock up piston or destruction will occur.

Freeway speeds have nothing to distinguish the many
converters out there, unless the lockup clutch is too
weak. Had one of those, none of the mentioned vendors.

I think you aren't asking the right questions, probably
meaning you don't have the clearest idea of what you
really want out of a converter.

I have an edgde 3400, very happy with my converter, very efficent i sometimes forget i have a converter and it hits hard off the line, as for highway driving it's nice to mash the throttle at any speed and have plenty of pull. customer service is great also.
