I'm rebuilding my second 4L60E and having trouble getting the input drum out. We've got the low reverse drum off of it and yanked and yanked on the input shaft but it won't come out, I don't remember it being near this tight on the last one. Any suggestions, thanks.

Any ideas, It's supposed to be a performabuilt level 2 that had third and forth gear slippage. The valve body and everything else that has come off looks good so far.

Sounds like the 3-4 clutches are burned so badly they won't disengage from the front ring gear. I've used a large pair of vise grips with a nut welded on the end, so I can use a large slide hammer to ****** the drum out. Some can be extremely difficult to remove depending how badly the clutches are warped.

Sounds like the 3-4 clutch is wielded or seized to the front planet. try carefully so you don't break the case dropping the unit evenly on the bell sometimes works to get them loose.
When you have a chance PM me the number stamped at rear of case if you don't mind.
Thanks

Thanks dropping it on the case worked great. There is definitely heat discoloring on the 3-4 cluch snap ring. And the teflon seal closest to the input drum on the input shaft is messed up. I'll get pics up later.

Be careful to drop even but sometimes dropping trans down on bell evenly will dislodge the drum . Some risk of damaging bell is there that is why i say evenly drop short distance , Watch your feet. The 3-4 clutch is probably seized to reaction or front planet has exploded.
