Default What torque Convertor do i need

I have a 2000 Z28 A4.

Besides headers, exhaust, it's pretty much stock and a daily driver. I'm having the transmission rebuilt and i'm going to get a new torque convertor. Which one do i need to get ? I'd like it to be close to stock, but maybe something to make it a little quicker.

Please help

Thanks

Man from my expericence go with a 3200 stall no more I had a heads cam spray in my old set up in my sig and had a 3500 stall it was nice. no higher for street. But from a vendor on here do not buy junk esp a TCI I have had friends get those and there quality has went down. Talk to FRANK @PerfromaBuilt

We have our 11" 3200 that sounds perfect for your application. Very affordable - only $375 for tech members. Great street manors and the 3200 stall will make a noticeable difference in performance. It should knock of .3-.4 in the 1/4 mile with almost no loss of MPG and street manors.

Yank, Circle D or PI would be the people to contact IMO. As mentioned above do not buy a low budget converter or you will be sorry. Vince

A 3600 would be the minimum I would sugest as they can be built to drive great and reduce et by.6-.8 tenths. You could put in a 3200 but you will not see the performance gain you will with a 3600.

i have a vig 3200 and its perfect for driving around and still getting the performance you want and it drives damn near stock which is what i wanted. i would say that a 3600 would be the biggest i would go. but like everybody else said, do not go cheap on a converter. get a good quality converter.

Depending on how "close to stock" you want, consider the converter mentioned here: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-t...-da-floor.html

Hmm, that is interesting. I've never heard of anyone using the astro van converter before...

Same as an S10 converter ( non brazed with a weak clutch)but it will not fit an F-Boby 4L60-E trans

Really? wow i will have to look into that that is a great price. Do you think that stall and a level 2 performabuilt on a lightly modded formula would be a good combo? Maybe a max 100 shot.

SORRY FOR THE

If you don't go to the track much and drive in the city with heavy traffic I would go with a 3200 stall converter.

It can be very annoying when driving in stop and go traffic or going uphill with the converter unlocked.

The stock converter is a 300MM -12" 1500-1700 stall. I would not suggest this, even for a DD. THe 11" I mentioned is a great improvement over stock and is very affordable. It is not a very high stall converter so it will still drive great. Please call for any questions.

This is what the shop is going to replace...

Master kit, seals, gaskets, steel clutch etc
Commerical clutch pack
2/4band
Heavy duty accumulators
input sprag
pump bushing
case bushing
hardened pump rotor veins
and 2015 convertor

It's a bench build for $650

Does this sound right? This shop was about $150-$200 cheaper than other shops i talked to .

That price does seem quite cheap and seems like a stock rebuild. I might suggest something a little stronger. The 2015 converter is to low in my opinion, you can get a 3000 stall for a DD and still be happy with street manors.

for that stall for 375 whats the main differences between that and the stage 1 you guys sell? the one for 375 would leave me with cam money but i don't want to sacrifice anything.
