Quick question about stall brands
Quick question about stall brands Okay, I've finished off my bolt ons so I figured it's time for a stall. I know for sure I'm going to go with a 3600 because I want a street car, not a max effort drag car. I will maybe go to the track once a year. Right now I put about 20 miles on my car a week since I don't have to dd my car. Future mods to the car really only include a mild cam and maybe a pulley
I know I'm either going to go with circle d or yank. I'm just trying to figure out which one will fit me better. Price doesn't bother me considering they are the same price. One thing I like about circle d is the fact that you can call him and spec one out. Making it more customer based. What do you guys think?

I think both are good choices. I know for fact you can call Dave at Yank and spec out a converter as well as Chris at Circle D. Not sure what that was supposed to mean. Never heard that before about Yank! I do know that these guys have converters in the 4000 stall range that DD very nice with excellent street manors. Might be something to consider when talking with them. Give them a call and make your decision from there. Good luck with your choice. Vince
Ah okay. Well I just assumed that yank didn't do that since they have their line of trannys on their website. I'll look into the 4000 but it just seems so high, I'm also on the stock tranny as well so I'm hoping to keep it running for as long as possible before I have to learn how to rebuild it haha. I have a Performabuilt 4k stall(and Level 2 60e) in my car, and i DD it. Its cammed, and geared and i LOVE it!! Ive never driven one with a stock stall, so i dont really have anything to compare it to though.
Sounds like a nice setup you are building. Since you only put 20 mile a week I would suggest something close to 4000 as well. We have our "+4C" that is rated at 3800-4000. It couples nicely under low throttle pressure for good street manors, but will amaze you when you hit the gas. It will make the car feel like a different animal. If you want a little more conservative, I have the "3C" - rated 3500-3700. Give me a call at the shop and we can go over the details of your car and select the perfect compliment.

Circle D and Yank are two of the best converters imo. Loose is a relative term. What may be loose to you may feel close to stock to someone else.
I've had converters from both companies and they are both quality converters.

Why would you leave FTI out of the equation. We dont just build LS based converters. Our resume includes IHRA and NHRA world championships, divisional champioships, Land speed records on the salt flats.etc. I would think that we know what we are doing.

the reason i left the other two out is 1. because circle d is 30 minutes away from my house so after its done being built i can go get it. 2. circle d seems to be a very reputable shop and i hear nothing but great things about Chris and his customer service which is a huge plus to me.
im not keeping the others out of my sight, i will be calling each company to see which one treats me the best and has the best offer/rep and then i will make my decision.
in terms of loose and tight, which would make the car faster? im kinda cloudy on which one will make the car a better performer. im assuming you want a tight converter if you plan to use the car primarily on the street.

thanks for all the help so far guys.
i think im opting for the 3600 range stall. a 4000 just seems a little too big. im not dding the car right now but when i move out in like 6 months ill be driving more like 100 miles a week so the 4000 may become an annoyance.
