This is a TCI Super Streetfighter. It only has 6 or 7 dyno passes on it for tuning. The drive shaft broke and broke the tailshaft housing along with the rest of the damage you see.

When it broke and they let off the throttle the trans backed down just fine. No weird noises or anything. I think the damage is just confined to what you see.

Is it better for me to buy a new trans or have this one fixed if possible.

Being that it was a TCI, you would probably be pulling it apart to fix it anyway.

 

Umm...wow. You can even see a release spring sticking out. Good carnage!!
Glad I wasn't sitting in the car when it happened or you'd have to clean the seats too.

 

I say send it back to TCI.....just my .02

 

he just can't send back to tci cause this happend because the driveshaft broke not the failure of the transmission.

 

who says you have to tell them that ......It is a shame though, guess it's time to bite the bullet

 

just cause you dont tell them they will know why it failed and then you just ate the money you paid to ship it to them and back.

 

Considering you can clearly see the low/reverse piston from the rear, I would say no you aren't fixing that one. It needs a case at a minimum.

I've never seen a low reverse piston apply area while it was still in the case, now I can say I have

 

Looks like I will have to get a trans from one of our sponsors or out of the for sale section.

Bummer for me I guess.
