Default New Gear ratios for the 4L60E from PATC !!

In the Sept. 2009 issue of Car Craft they published a guide to overdrive automatics. In the 700R4/4L60E section they say that a company called PATC (Performance Automotive and Transmission Center) has a new planetary gear set that gives the 700R4/4L60E the following gear ratios

1st - 2.84, 2nd - 1.55, 3rd - 1.00, 4th - 0.64

The information on the website is little different. It has the 2nd gear at 1.56 and the 4th gear OD at the stock .70. Boy that real tall .64 OD would have been real sweet in this day and age of high gas prices and compares favorably to the 200R4's .67 OD

Either way this does makes the 4L60E a true close ratio tranny without that nasty 1st to 2nd RPM drop that we experience.

Below is the link to the webpage and the information on the new gearset is towards the bottom:

http://www.transmissioncenter.net/competition.htm

I know that some of us have gone to the 4L80E for not only the increased HP/TQ capacity but also the the not as steep 2.48:1 first gear that allows a better ability to hook up off the line as compared to the 4L60E's 3.06 first gear.

Something to consider on the next tranny rebuild.

1200 bucks for that plus the cost of a build?? No thanks. If I'm making 1000hp I'll be in a sponsor 4l80E anyway. But still cool nonetheless.

I've been watching this for awhile and been in touch with the guys at PACT. They do actually have some impressive results from this conversion. Anytime you can knock .3 tenths off your track times without changing anything is sweet! Still not enough info to pull the trigger yet when it comes to being strong enough and such. Too early in the ballgame just yet..............

If your complaining about the cost just look at it this way..................just think how much money it takes to create enough horsepower to knock .3 tenths of your track times!?

3 tenths off of what track time though? could be a 10.0 or a 13.0, big difference. I will say that .3 anywhere is a welcomed gain however.

a c5 vette supposedly went from 9.52 to a 9.25 almost 3 tenths. That much when running nines already is real good. I have my fingers crossed that they live up to the hype. Just waiting on rodney to say its good or not since he builds my trans.
