Default HPP3 shift firmness hurt my tranny?

If I use my HPP3 to increase shift firmness(there is only one setting), will it hurt my tranny in any way, or over a long period of time? I've never messed with the firmness before and am worring if it will hurt my tranny at all. My truck is a 99' sierra 5.3L rc/sb.

a lot of people think its bad for the trans over time. I'm one of them as i grenaded my trans 2 weeks ago....mine was set at 50%.....im taking it out as soon as i swap in the new trans.

The Hypertech for my '99 SS offers from 25% to 100% increase in four ranges - mind you, though, that 100% is not double the factory shift firmness, but 100% of what the HPP3 can do.

I have a 2800 stall in the SS, and pumped my shifts up 25% to help w/ the "soft" 2 - 3 shift @ WOT.

So far, so good - I'd say I have had it set that way for ~ 15K and I am at 54K on the car. My car also has an aftermarket trans cooler in addition to the one in the radiator - perhaps that makes a difference.

Oh, I also bumped up my 1 - 2 shift & 2 - 3 shift - that seemed to give a better SOTP feel during "Beltway Bursts" .

Good Luck !

Britt

I dont think it will hurt your tranny, I had my Predator at something like 20/25(25 is the highest) but when I got my shift kit/converter/cooler put in I set it back down b/c Ive heard that it can cause damage when used in corralation with a shift kit but I also decreased the shift adapatation which makes the shifts quick. Good Luck man

With a str above 2.0 and no shift kit a 50% increase is good

5k Miles At 100% Not Lookin Back Works Great I Really Think It Depends On How You Drive The Car.....
See I Drive My Car On Open Roads And Hwy With Not Too Much Stop N Go Also Im Agressive In My Style So I Think Limiting Clutch Slippage Is Gonna Be Benfical To Me But I Do Realise It Is Harder On Other Compodents I Look At It As Transfering The Stress From The Weekest Compodents Of The A4 To Stronger Ones Beacouse From My Understanding Your Are Elivating Heat N Stress Form The Clutches But The Increased Firmness Can Wearother Internals Faster, So If Your In A City Setting Where You Dont Hit Wot Frequently Or Even Get Up In Speeds But Instead Just Pull The 1\2 Dance All Day Its Probally Not A Good Idead To Have It Set Up High Just When Your Pushin Some Power Out Your Helping More Than Your Hurting Imo .......im Not A Tranny Expert But This Is What Ive Come Up With From Hearing This Arguemnt For The Last 2 Yrs Also For Some Reason I Feel As If The Hypertech 75% Setting Is Harsher For Part Throddle Shifts Then The 100% Mine Feels Great At 100% Not At All Jerkey But Just Firm And Persice
