Default new TC

I've never posted on these boards before i post on some other camaro boards but i hear these are alot more helpful and technical

i'm getting a TC soon and wanted to ask some questions i'm looking at the 3500 TCI but was wondering if this is going to be streetable in a car i drive every day and how the tranny is going to hold up its stock i drive a 98 z28 by the way my tranny shifts hard and is still in good shape form what i can tell except for some noise while shifting into reverse or drive from park is this normal

anyway is this a good choice in conveters, will i see some big gains from it (i have 2.73 grars at the moment if thats helps) is it streetable, is there any special care needed (i'm getting tranny a cooler with it) like different tranny fluid or anything

well thanks

Not my first choice, but more than streetable. Old school converter rules don't apply to these cars. The 4L60E in these cars with lockup and torgue of the LS1 make larger converters very liveable on the street.

the1turkey,
That's a good converter for an everyday driver. It's the same one that the Colonel was running in his everyday driver with the stock longblock. He ran 11.82 at a raceweight of 3550. I think you'll be happy with it.

Same converter I am running, and I drive 250 miles a week, mostly in town stoplight driving.

Times in Sig.

From the looks of TCI's web site, the lockup clutch is
the same material on the SSF3500 as my SF3000, so
I recommend that you stay with a Dexron ATF (or at
least avoid B&M fluid; see my tale of temporary woe).

The site says it's "carbon fiber" though at another time
I was told it's a carbon ceramic.

I think you will like the converter, my car is my daily driver and I drive about 250 miles a week. You will absolutely love the converter for a street/strip converter. On the other hand you might want to look at a higher stall converter. I would recommend the Yank SS4000 or a PT4200 trust me once you drive a car with the TCI SSF 3500 you will want more and more stall. Good Luck

The SSF3500 is an awesome daily driver converter with great track performance to boot. As was mentioned before, that converter and 3.23 gears netted me low 1.6 60 fts and 11.8s with an internally stock engine in a heavy car. I was VERY happy with that converter and I think you will be too. BTW, I ran F-type fluid with that converter for a little while and it worked great. No clutch problems at all.

I have the TCI SSF and love it. I also have the 2.73 gears. you will want to add an aftermarket cooler. Also may want a shift kit or at least need to tune the shifting. I used my predator to raise pressure and reduce shift time. i got .7tenthsoff the quarter with this converter

I forgot to mention The predator removed torque management also. I know the tuning made a big difference for me alot of people say you need the shift kit but im happy so for with just the tune in my car.

I would recommend deleting TM while you're at it.
