Thumbs up

I suggest a "Maxi-cool" type of kit which has its own temp controlled cooling fan to move air through the cooler even when stopped and idling.
See Summit or Jegs
You typed 1900gvw cooler, I assume you meant 19000gvw.

Cooling time is a factor of cooling efficiency. Put on a temp gauge to know for sure. A cooler with a fan, as described above, is gonna cool quicker than any thing less than 60mph down the highway!
And... if you are a serious racer, get the maxicool 24,000(?) gvw and bypass the one in the radiator.

Cooling time is a matter of efficency as stated, AND ambient temperature. A trans will take longer to cool in Florida than up here in the cold white north. Also, the location of your cooler makes a difference, so it's impossible to say.

Best bet is get a trans temp gauge and/or AutoTap. As long as you're under 200 degrees F you're fine.

If it was YOUR car and not mine?

Just kidding.

I've found in warmer weather (before I had my cooler) that after a 1/4 mile run, on spray, and after sitting in the lanes for 5-10 minutes idling, my trans temps can reach over 200 degrees.

In all honesty you will probably find your trans will cool faster crusing around doing normal driving than letting the car idle. There's not enough fluid circulation or airflow over the cooler and radiator standing still.

At least that's been my experience.

i agree...were not talking about a turbo here...idling makes my car heat up much faster than driving at a constant speed...also keep in mind you can easily heat soak a tranny...so the longer you drive the hotter the tranny gets...i can drive for an hour an dnot see my tranny temps go above 160 but once i shut it down in the lanes and start it up 1/2 hour later it will be at 190 from heat soaking.

At a steady 60 mph in 4th gear locked, my tranny will drop 10* in a few miles or so in cool weather, depending on how hot is was.

With a big cooler and 160 T-Stat you should drop right on down except on a summer day.

Post count is pretty high. I've been here since the first week the site went live. Not all posts require long responses. sometimes it is just a simple "congrats" to someone who posted a new best in drag racing.

another question have you ever used the g-tech comp cause i cant seem to get a good hp reading out of it it was tring tell me i had 247 hp when i dynoed 330rwhp and i know i can be losing tha much to other misc things like drag i was expecting like 300 which seems reasonable for othewrs using it but for some reason im not getting it .... im thinking it has to do with the procedure for measuring being semi-difficult to do in a auto car and mabye im not doing it right ???

It is rare that I have seen anyone get reliable, truly useful, information from a G-Tech. I put it in the toy catagory. Use a dyno or track times to guage where your car is.
