Converter shudder....PLEASE HELP
Thousands and thousands of 4L60's are out there and don't have that problem. The solution is to fix the problem, not the symptom
If there was a bottle of fix-it out there that actually worked, I'd be out of a job. just straight DexIII Valvoline brand. Since then I did one
drain & fill with Castrol (6qt w/ deep pan) and will do the
rest of the case one of these weekends. Just use the
DexronIII in a good brand (like Castrol bottle sez "Meets
the new anti-shudder and sprag gear wear requirements of
the DEXRON(R)-III specification").
A place that uses the flush & fill machine is a good way to
go, that ought to get you to about 95% fresh at least.
They'll run as much juice through it as you want (at 6
bucks a pint, or whatever, they'll do it all day).
Then drive it a few weeks to let the clutch scrub off
whatever's got it all fussy and then see if you've still got
a beef.
