It was flushed about 15-20k miles ago.

Sounds like somebody put in a shift kit and botched the install.. The TCC apply solenoid in the pump is probably installed upside down, and applying the converter clutch.

As far as I know, the transmission is completely stock.

Personally I'm not a big fan of snake oil. Think, if it's going to "soften" the engagement of your converter clutch, it's going to do the same for all the clutches. That's pretty much the opposite of what we aim for in a performance transmission (quick, firm shifts with minimum slipage).

Thousands and thousands of 4L60's are out there and don't have that problem. The solution is to fix the problem, not the symptom If there was a bottle of fix-it out there that actually worked, I'd be out of a job.

Ok......well I'm changing the fluid within the next week or two, so which kind of fluid should I get? How much do I need? Anything else I should do?

I got my trans flushed at a Valvoline place and that helped,
just straight DexIII Valvoline brand. Since then I did one
drain & fill with Castrol (6qt w/ deep pan) and will do the
rest of the case one of these weekends. Just use the
DexronIII in a good brand (like Castrol bottle sez "Meets
the new anti-shudder and sprag gear wear requirements of
the DEXRON(R)-III specification").

A place that uses the flush & fill machine is a good way to
go, that ought to get you to about 95% fresh at least.
They'll run as much juice through it as you want (at 6
bucks a pint, or whatever, they'll do it all day).

Then drive it a few weeks to let the clutch scrub off
whatever's got it all fussy and then see if you've still got
a beef.

i have a fully rebuilt 700r4, that i just installed. and i am having the violent shuddering... i also have a Daaco high stall converter (2800-3200). i have fresh DEX/MERC ATF in and its the proper amount.. what should i do first? TCC is on toggle, and always off anyway. When I use the shift kit (transgo stage2), i dont get as much shuddering. But in overdrive its violent.
