MongooZ- I had 2.73 gears and my cruising RPM was 1500 at 60, 1750 at 70, and 2000 at 80. The converter shouldn't affect that.
I just switched to 3.42 gears and I'm glad I did. Not much difference at part throttle except that you need more RPM to get it up to a desired speed. When you really nail the gas, however, it moves with a much greater sense of urgency. That's the best way I can describe it. I dropped a coupla tenths at the track and picked up about 1 mph, and if I don't romp on the gas all the time then MPG isn't affected much, maybe 10% or so. Do eeet!
