MongooZ- I had 2.73 gears and my cruising RPM was 1500 at 60, 1750 at 70, and 2000 at 80. The converter shouldn't affect that.
I just switched to 3.42 gears and I'm glad I did. Not much difference at part throttle except that you need more RPM to get it up to a desired speed. When you really nail the gas, however, it moves with a much greater sense of urgency. That's the best way I can describe it. I dropped a coupla tenths at the track and picked up about 1 mph, and if I don't romp on the gas all the time then MPG isn't affected much, maybe 10% or so. Do eeet!

Is it possible to get the same shift extension from a ss4000 on a ss3600? Ive noticed the ss4000 stays around 5500 on every shift and the 3600 around 5k

I drove my friend's bolt on car with an SS 4000 and hated it. It was mostly stop and go driving, but it sucked none the less.

What kind of gear ratio? Makes a big difference in how it feels in stop and go traffic.

I daily drove a 3600 in a 4700lb truck, in an f body I would for sure have a 4000 or 4400.
