**** I get pissed when my stroker LT1 just hangs with him on our Speed Inc. track days.. he is always calling me out : LOL

I did state for the OP to look him up though for info on his combo and for convenience I will post the link with his info

https://ls1tech.com/forums/12350677-post1.html

There are numerous cars in his range and some even way faster cam only.
I respect Chris greatly for not hiding it.. I hate when I see someone say "yea it can be done because he did it.." Of course can be done, but even with the same exact setup, unless they are running in a DA of -1000 or whatever he usually runs in, times won't be anywhere near the same.

Hopefully that comes out right!?

is the OP car going to run 10's with a stall and gear swap? most likely no , but with time and tweaks as all of us do he has the potential to do so is all I'm stating
what larry is saying is dead on in about 1600-1800Ft the car will run 11.0x to high 10.9s (60ft 1.40-1.41)...with the -900ft or whatever it was it went a 10.61...car really loves the cold air...

now to the OP i would get the ss4000 especially if you are going to spray the car, i think it is one of the best converters yank has...hense why it is still in my car...i am going to push it ever farther with a larger cam and heads coming this spring and it should still respond nicely...

pt4400, pt4000, or ss4000 you cant go wrong...and dont get caught up on gears i gained less than 1 tenth going from 3.23s to 4.10s...with an a4 the stall makes up alot for the gear...

also you might want to get some 28" tall tires they will make you more consistent and the track doesnt have to be set on dead hook...if you can hook the 26" more power to you but i needed a nice drag bar and amazing track prep, otherwise i would over power the track...

and get a ram air on that car if you dont have one, i gained 2.5mph over stock with mine, and 1.2mph over a FTRA...

http://www.speedinc.com/cont.cfm?cid=C0000984

SUX2BU is another style i would recommend too

also larry is running a smoking deal on the yanks i paid way more than that when i got my ss4000

Explain a short difference between PT and SS if you don't mind Chris.. Don't know too much about the Yanks.

I honestly think my next "race car" will have a Chance in it.

I will agree the converter is more important then gearing. This shows on my fathers car with has a 3.42 / SS4000 / 28" Drag Radial.

1.46 60ft and the car is 3600#'s race weight

10.95@122 Heads, cam, 90/90, LT's , etc

We also spray the car with this converter and it's been 1.42 60ft delaying the N20 to 4200. We are using a progressive this coming year to get it to leave harder.

I also run an SS4000 with great results.

10.6@126 1.39 best 60 NA / 1.32 best 60 150 shot ( window switch @ 4400 ) again I will be using a progressive to get it to work better on spray this year

some details on cars with Yanks in this thread + vid

These guys got some good info for you. I ran the pt4400 with a 28 inch tire and 3.50 gear. The pt4400 is awesome off the line and even better from a roll. My shift extension was 6,000 rpm when I shifted at 6800-6900. Gear swap is not worth the money on a a4 car.

well i appreciate all the advice keep it coming. I definetly plan on going 10s on motor. It has already gone 7.50 in the 1/8th with this junk converter and stock heavy *** wheels. I think a new converter that matches the cam and a little more weight reduction, along with the new billet specialties street lites on the car ill do the best i can to make it happen with the cam only motor in the car now. O the car also has been retuned since then as well so that should help me just a bit as well. thanks guys keep it coming. Like i said its a strip/street warrior not a daily driver.

Chris's ram air is one of the best mods you can do. Made a big difference on my pop's car.

I believe you since my brother LS1 BU sprayed a small shot on his PT4400. The main thing is if you have rpm to turn it should be good the small shot, but it's not going to be as efficient as a smaller converter especially with larger shots.

I suggest the tire and converter swap with some track testing before swapping gears.

NA like everyone said 4000-4400 with spray 3800-4000. i had a 230/236 with a ss3600 and it stunk out of the hole, well only cut a 1.69 you could hear the cam come in once the RPMs got over 4000.

I'd leave 373s in. Make sure you will have enough rpm to stay in 3rd gear on spray.

True, on spray I had to have a 6400 rpm pill in my windown switch for nitrous to stay on when the car was set to shift at 5700. I picked up 13 mph, I dont think I was leaving to much on the table.
