Never herd of having to rebuild the trans before a converter install, unless its slipping bad or something like that, but i would have a shift kit installed and a tranny cooler if you don't already have one, just my .02 cents.

I install my 3600 stall on my stock 02 trans 4l60e, then installed a HD2 shift kit, worked great. Plus I spray 150 shot. so far so good. Cooler needs to be installed for sure shift kit is just some added help. Plus you will need the tune changed for the stall they say but I haven't done it yet. I would check with a tuner to be sure on that. andhave fun the stall is one of the best mods...well unless you have N20

The beast is just the name brand of the HD sun shell. My trans has been out 3 times this year. Twice for the 3-4 clutch pack and a broken input sprag. Damn race track and hard shifts dont mix well. This last time i wanted it to last so i went all out with all the good hard parts. Cost me double what i paid last time and the 3-4 pack slipped on the first day.
Just put the stall in and fix issues as they come up.

no the z-pack has its place in a trans but not in a performance unit you would be better off with the stock 6 clutches with clearnce set right however you can put 8 stock HE frictions in the drum by either using the thin 4l65e clutches and the stock thickness steels or you can use the stock thickness clutches and thin steel. The stock BW HE clutches are fine you just need more of them. However between the z-pack and the stock 6 I would choose the stock 6 with tight clearnce. with the stall you will want to remove the checkball from the input shaft this will help the smaller clutch apply better. you also want to have the PWM lockup removed either with tuning or mechanically. The transgo HD2 kit has a valve that does this also.
