i believe 400s are easier and cheaper to rebuild. plus it's a tranny that a lot more people have experience with opposed to an 80e. so if you ever decide to get it freshened up in the future you can probably take it to a local shop provided they have a good history.

Yikes, from reading their site I was under the impression that going to a TH400 would be a lot cheaper. My bad.

the tranny itself isnt expensive all the things you need to get it to work in a late model f body are what bring the cost up.

i think im gonna buy a performabuilt 4l60e level 3 800rwhp tranny. i dont race alot, just need it not to break on the damn dyno.

I am in a simillar sittuation as you without your powerlevel. Take your time and do some research. Consider customer service, reputation, others feed back.
Dont make a quick decision based on price. I am going with FLT and considering the level 7 RPM. However i am very impressed with FLT based on customer service and reputation.

ya i agree FLT is good. performabuilt has a year warrantee i like though

well i bought the 4l60e level 3 from performabuilt. seems pretty sweet. hope it holds.

i am installing my jakes performance lvl 2 4l80e with t-brake this week, thats good for 750hp they have a lvl 3 and 4 good for 1200+hp. i spent about 3k total for my swap.
