Default Trans Brake in a 4L60E

Anyone running a T-brake on their 4L60E? I've read an article on this sometime ago, and said to myself that would be the day. Just curious to see how it would work. What has to be done in the trans. Different converter? Any info is greatly appreciated.

I am sure they are made for the 4L60/4L65/4L70e's, but since the 4Lx0e aren't known to be the stoutest of trans I am not sure its a great idea if you want it to live any decent amount of time.

We ran a Cirlce D 4L60E with a Rossler TB installed by Circle D and it worked great. We did a have a very efficient converter so the TB Ets were the same as the footbrake ETs. It was a heck of a launch for sure, but the 60fts were the same. We never broke the transmission the entire time we had it and it's still going strong in the new buyers turbo car.

The only catch is that the Rossler transbrake is a .500 style bracket TB so it'll be a little slow for .400 pro tree index racing. Other than that it is great!

Hmm, 60fts were the same as foot brake. And it's a little slow for pro tree index. May not be worth installing one, huh? Thanks for your input. Do you have any vid of the car leaving on the t-brake? Thanks again.

Rossler is the only ones that make the 4L60E TB and there are only a few shops qualified to install it. I know FLT and Circle D can do the install for you.

Here's my wife's first TB launch with the 4L60E.

The 60's being unchanged is more an issue of the converter thant the brake...

Thats not true...A perfectly set up trans/car should 60ft the same on the footbrake as the TB, meaning the converter is efficient. My cuda 60fts 1.27-1.28 on the footbrake leaving at 2k rpm and 60fts 1.27-1.28 leaving at 3500rpm on the tb.

This is very true. I see it quite often in our heads up index classes. Another factor is that most have to leave off of a 2-step to be able to hook consistently which may or may not leave a little on the table.

If we ran a tighter converter so we could leave off the stall and no 2-step we probably could run a better 60ft off the TB, but the FB 60s would suffer. The 4L60E 1st gear will test your abilities to tune your suspension if you run a fairly high stall converter.

It does feel awesome leaving off the trans-brake and the crowd loves it too

Rossler has two style trans brakes. One called the "Pro Tree Trans Brake"

The Pro tree brake wasn't available back when we had ours, so yeah it would be a good investment for someone trying to keep the OD and run competitively on a .400 tree.

The Rossler TB is not a plug and play piece so be sure to get with him or a qualified installer before spending the $$$.
