Looking for a 4l60e trans pan, with drain plug? advice
Alright well Im going to be changing the trans fluid and filter in my car this summer. It needs done cuz I dont know how long its been and its got a small leak from the side of the pan since Ive had it. Just small drips off one of the bolts.
I want to go ahead and get an aftermarket pan with a drain plug. Im only at the bolt on level know but next major mod will be a built trans, converter, and cooler. So Id rather just have one I can reuse. So what should I get and need to look for. Idk how a cooler attaches to the trans? Do you have to buy a pan with fittings for it? Im a real NEWBIE when it comes to the transmission stuff.
Thanks guys,
Josh

IMO, I wouldnt waste the money on an aluminum pan. I run a stock pan and a big cooler and my temps are way in check and I live in the south where it gets hot as ****. Buy a universal trans drain plug from orielly, and stop at your local muffler shop and have em weld it up real quick. Thats what Im running.

You can mod your stock pan, or pick up a steel one off fleabay with a plug fairly cheap.
The cooler attaches to the stock cooler lines, no other modding required.
It sounds like your pan is leaking around the gasket, I have seen some where the bolts loosen up and leak just the way you are describing.

There were some years of pickup truck that had a deeper pan
with the factory drain plug. I have one off an '02 Silverado.
These, you can use the truck filter on which puts you deeper in
the juice for no starvation on hard cornering if you're a hair low.
I had a TCI deep pan and ground down the "prongs" to let me
use a truck filter there too. But I was tagging every speed bump
with that one, and figured I needed something that would scrape
less and take more of a beating if it did (truck pan is steel).

if i go with a univeral type drain plug, any suggestions on which one? anyone had problems with leaks? also what kind of gasket was used from the factory and what should i put back on the pan, i dont want another leak? lastly where did you guys put the plug? on of the sides or bottom?
im thinking of looking at autozone and oreilley for a bolt in one like that first B&M one.
