I'm doing a 4L70E from a 2008 TBSS in the shop right now, didn't make it to 45K miles in a stock (tune-only) TBSS.

4L70E is just a 4L60E, 4L65-E and still a derivative of the 700-R4.

It has an input speed sensor built into the pump, but otherwise needs all the same upgrades.

I thought the TBSS had 4l65e? Or did they upgrade after a certain year?

well the 2009 tbss motor im getting has a 4l70e and also if you search online it says they have teh 4l70.. and i think the only difference is that the 4l70e has a 5 planetary. but i know the 4l70 is on the heavy 4500lb tbss awd and my car is about 3000lbs. i guess well see..

For 500 hp you will need a few upgrades.
-Beast Sunshell
-Raybestos Z-pak
-Carbon Band
-Alto red HP clutches
-Kolene steels
-Superior 2nd servo, sonnax 4th servo
-Hardened pump ring kit

You should already have 5pinoin front & rear planetary gears. The 4l70 has a few minor changes, input speed sensor in pump, reluctor on input shaft, and boost valve is slightly smaller. So from a performance standpoint the 65/70 are the same
