Default speed sensor question?????

I swapped out a six speed for a th400 I just ordered the new speed sensor and rotor that I need to make the speedo work again. My question is with out my sensor being hooked up now will this affect anything in my computer that will change my tuning? I ask this because since the swap it's like my custom tune is gone for example my rpm's were set to redline at 6800 now it hits rev limiter at 5500 like it was at stock setting and the car is very rich and runs kind or rough. I had a great tune on it before this. So will the sensor fix this problem or did I just loose my tune for some other odd reason?

It shouldnt have any effect on it that I can think of..I dont know if any values are controlled by the speed. I had to unhook my speed sensor till I get my car retuned for the swap. Its kinda fun to watch the speedo shoot up when you get into it...makes you know what an accually fast car would be like

The car is running very rich so rich that hard to stand behind it. I never had that problem before the swap. Another example I had a different cam put in so my rpm's were set to redline at 6800 and now it redlines at 5500 again like it did when it was stock. It's definately not running like it was before the swap......

I just had my car retuned tonight and there were a whole slew of codes that came up from the lack of sensor imput from the 6speed. So he deleted the codes that came up and we recalibrated my speedo...wala all issues solved. So you might need to hit up your tuner for a retune.

Ok so I will definetly talk to my tuner and have him go through my computer. My question to you is did did you still have to buy the speed sensor rotor combo that goes on new trans to even be able to recalibrate the speedo?

The trans I got alreaedy had it installed, but yes you will need it. And untill you get it recalibrated it will be horribly off.
