Just wanting some opinions on energy suspension vs rubber mounts? Also if you know where I can find rubber mounts pretty cheap. WS6store has energy suspension mounts for 23.99, the cheapest rubber mount I've been able to find is 42.99.

 

I don't have any experience with the ES mount but when I wanted to replace my mount a few years ago everyone said that they vibrate like crazy and only run one if you have polyurethane motor mounts so I went with the rubber one they sell them at autozone maybe advance also you just have to ask for 1993-97 LT1 years they don't sell them for LS1's(atleast back when I relaced mine i dont know about now) but they work just fine alot of people have used them I've had mine for 2+ years with no problems and I think it was only $15 give or take.

 

I have an ES tranny mount and I installed it with the spacer and it vibrate pretty bad, took the spacer out and it's good! Of course it's stiffer but I don't mind it.

 

I would get the stock one. I tryed the ES mount and it sucks!

i have the prothane one, bout 1500miles so far, and i can't say that it vibrates too bad... it is noticeable but you get used to it quickly...

 

Ya the V6 mounts are the same. I picked up the ES one at Autozone.

 

I keep reading about cheap rubber tranny mounts but i'm just not finding them. Any suggestions?

 

So are the lt1 and ls1 mounts the same

 

Do Not use a poly tranny mount with rubber engine mounts.
When the engine "torques" in the mounts it puts more pressure on the trans case, at the mount.
It is OK to use a rubber tranny mount with poly engine mounts.

 

Damn, I better hurry up and put my Motor mounts in then, never thought about that...

 

I think that is a myth.. I ran rubber mounts and a poly Trans one for a long time with my 402 and never had any problems.

 

I don't doubt that it would take a long time to see any serious negative effects of that set-up...however, it is wiser to avoid it. Better safe than sorry.

 

Just changed out mine yesterday from ES back to stock after a little over 2 years and 25k. Lot less road vibration at speed but the ES without bumps or plate is the best IMO, but not for a DD

Curious what you ended up doing? Doesn't anyone replace the motor mounts with GM stock parts? I've been searching for the GM part # but haven't been able to locate it yet...

No, but rubber full clamshells are available at the auto parts stores for about $100 apiece.
