i noticed you mentioned the beast....for anyone looking for a sunshell i highly recommend it, you almost never hear of those breaking....

I noticed that the shift points are lower also. What exactly does that mean? Is it the programming of the shift points based on the truck application or is it a physical limitation?

in the truck version they lower the RATING meaning that the trans will handle such and sch and amount of torque at 5600 rpm instead of 6100 in the car version....i have the car version and its not physically limited at all i rev it past 5600 with no problem.

The 4L65E is listed as haveing a higher torque and hp rating than the 4L60E, however, the shift points are listed as being at 5600 rpm.

I know this is old, but I wanted to mention that the '65's are available behind every LQ9 (High compression 6.0) motor...

That's any Silverado SS, any full sized Caddy SUV.

correct...however, car applications would require changing a few thigns that are more suited to the trucks. (servo, valvebody calibration, etc.)

Meaning, sustained top speed runs at 160 to 170 mph can really abuse the output carrier and pinions(imagine the output carrier and pinion speeds as they are overdriven in fourth gear at 170mph). Without the "high-speed" design, you'll eventually burn the pinions/washers. But remember, this is for GM's test of "Running the Corvette completely through one tank of gas at it's highest attainable speed." Not something the average driver is likely to do unless you drive on the autobahn (the reason the spec exists is for european corvettes). So basically those 2001 to 2004 4L65E's will work fine in your F-car. The 2005 C6 4L65E WILL HAVE a "high-speed" output carrier, it's just designed differently than the "slinger and hollow pins" 4-pinion method.

No. Just don't enter the Silver State Classic

But seriously, that 5-pinion won't give you any trouble witohout SUSTAINED high speed. Meaning, it's the heat build up over the course of a 30 to 45 minute run at top speed that'll distress those pinions. "Excusions" up to top speed won't do this.

ok thanx for the reassurance....i won't have to worry then, if i left my house and tried to drive 30 minutes in any direction at 150 mph, id end up in the ocean....

JUST THOUGHT I WOULD PASS THIS ON, THE 06, AND 07 CORVETTE WITH PADDLE SHIFT ON STEERING WHEEL HAS THE N-E-W HYDRA MATIC 6L80 SIX SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS (THATS RIGHT I SAID SIX SPEED AUTO) WITH GEAR RATIO'S FIRST THRU SIX, AND REVERSE AS FOLLOWS:4.03,2.36,1.53,1.15,0.85,0.67,AND-3.06!!! MAX 413BHP/430FT LB TORQUE! THESE ARE ALSO FOUND IN CADILLAC XLR/XLRV/ AND STSV. GMC YUKON DENALI/DENALI XL. ESCALADE ESV/AND EXT!! HAVE BEEN LOCKING AT MY OPTIONS ON MY 01 WS6 TRANSMISSION UPGRADE!!
