Default I need some advice

Well i tried the search feature and couldnt quite find what im looking for, so here it goes.

Here in a couple of weeks i will have myself an fbody in my grubby paws, and since i know myself so well i am sure i will be modding soon after the first tank of gas! i have decided to go with an a4 and my question is this. i see everyone talk about how great the converters are for a4s and such, but i dont know dick about them.. so my question is this, my car is going to be daily driven, light traffic maybe once a week lots of open hwy and residential driving and i was wondering what would be the best converter to have great street manners but still clear up the so called "dead spots" on these cars. i would like it to feel pretty close to stock, but definately not something that is a pain in the *** to drive. thanks a ton guys

I like my vig 3200- made a night and day difference, but doesn't take tons of throttle to get the car moving- drives pretty much like stock until you get on it.

I think that if you plan on modding your car in stages a 3200-3500 (I also had a TCI super streetfighter ~3500 stall at one time) is a good converter that will yield nice gains wether your car is stock or modded. Of course if you go heads/cam/4:11's you'll eventually want to go to a bigger stall, but I'm not sure how good the larger stalls will be on a stock car. Whatever you do, it's wise to add a trans cooler even if you dont go to a loose converter, but it's a must if you do.

Your best bet will be to call a couple of sponsors, tell them what your plans are for the car and see what they reccomend.

well i never plan to do more than boltons and possibly a decent cam.. my hardcore muscle is my 65 el camino with a built and blown 454 hehe i just want this for a quick lil daily driver but this car will most likely never see anything more extreme than a cam

I would do the rearend gears first, then match the converter to the gears.

I have 3.73's coupled to a Yank 3000 2.0STR. My vehicle is a 2001, so I do have some minor TM issues.

im prolly not gonna mess with the gears at first ill just do a converter is 3200 a good bet? or what about 3500 whats the big diffrence

It is pretty tough for me to help you here, You do not state what year vehicle you have, what rearend ratio you have. Do not just go by numbers of the stall (i.e. 3200,3500 etc.) there are other things to consider such as STR, shift extension, and converter effeciency.

DON'T JUST JUMP INTO THIS, compile information and make an intellegent (sp) decision.

The norm for a LS1 car now would be atleast a 3500 stall , you will retain your lock up in overdrive and hardle any gas milage drop , No More Dead Spots and Alot more fun to drive. I been running around with a TCI 2800 for over 2 years now and it is great but just a tad to small , I will be upgrading my stall this spring to a 3800TCI and this is my only car (daily Driver) >the best buy for the money and bang for the buck would be TCI superstreet fighter 3500 Great converter with alot of great reviews. By the way, I'm runnin the 3200 with 3:23 gears- like I said- big difference and still a pleasure to drive.
