I was looking around. I want a PT series converter but I dun wanna go to the 4400 b/c I will be spraying this converter and I figured the PT 4200 might be a little better. the pt4000 might also be an option though.

I have it. I don't know if the 4200 would be that great for N2O, though. I talked to mike at yank a few weeks back because I was considering adding nitrous to my car for a while. He told me that I should replace my converter with one that has less stall for N2O. On my car, nitrous with the 4200 would result in the engine staying over 6000 rpm even after the shifts

Even a TP-4000 is a little much for spray. You can spray with it.. but it's far from optimal. Give Yank a call. He can help you choose the right converter.

Thats funny...I talked to mike a few weeks ago when I got my PT4200. I told him I wanted something badass for all motor and something that would work well with a 150 shot..he told me to get the 4200 so thats what I got..I havent sprayed it yet,though

Hope you have a higher Rev limiter.

A friends Stock Internals car with a TP-4000 + a 125 shot was all over his 6400 rev limiter. He only picked up 2 tenth's on the gas.

Can it be figured out.. no doubt, but switching from NA to N20 set up will be ratically different.

Hugger, is your TP-4200 6 lugged extreme model?

I had a 4200. I doubt it would spray well above a 100 shot.

The PS4200 would probably be good for 125 shot, maybe 150 on a stock internal motor.

What about the SS3800?

I am looking for a converter that is really effiecent but I still want it to hit hard and be capable of a nitrous hit. i figure the PT 4200 or 4000 would do the trick though

PT4000 I've heard is good for no more than a 100 shot. Anything bigger and your not doing much good. Ths ss3800 is supposed to be good for spray. I didn't care for it N/A compared to my PT4000. But that is my opinion.

How did the PT4000 and SS3800 perform on nitrous?(you didn;t say that you had nitrous I was just assumin).

I want a converter that really shines on motor but I don't want to LOOSE on nitrous.

Oh yeah what would the shift extensions be on the PT4000, pt4200 and ss3800 and ss4000. I have a friend who is running the PT4400 and he said his car stays way up in the 6K's on nitrous and he said its not unusual to see 7K all the way own the track. Which his is working with a 02 z full bolt on car with a tr230/228 cam and I'm gunna be running something like a 228/232 before tooo long.

The shift extentions will be somewhat lower with the SS series converters compared to the PT. It is hard to put an exact number on shift extention rpm for a given converter, IMO, because it is dependant on a number of factors...torque, etc.

I would choose the SS converter for what you are going to be doing, but that's just me. You might be ok with a PT, but I think that the PT is better suited for N/A running.

there is a guy on the stock internal list that is running a PY3800 and it seems to perform well NA and with the spray, so something else to consider.

I thaught the PY series stopped at the 3600. If it was offered in a 4000 it might be an option.

You're right, the PY stops at 3600 but then there is the SS4000E which is the converter that I would choose for a moderate shot of N2O coupled with really good NA performance. This is basically an SS4000 (which you see is working great for me NA) with the posi-lockup clutch and 6-bolt mounting lugs.

For running a 175 shot or less I'd just get the regular SS4000. For running a 100-125 shot I might consider the PS4000 if I wanted a little harder hit off the line and a slightly higher shift extension for better NA running.

I think the SS4000 might be what I try. A 175 would probaby be tops for my setup anyway. I don't plan on changing bottom ends to go for more of a shot ANYTIME soon.

What is the stater of the ss4000 and the pt4200

The SS has a 21 blade stator. The PT has an 18 blade stator.
